Re: 2009 R1200RT-P Clutch Replacement
Bought mine at Euro Motoelectrics, but it looks like they may be out of stock https://www.euromotoelectrics.com/product-p/clutchtool768.htm As I recall, Haynes manual shows how to make one that is supposed to work. https://bmwpartsguy.com/products/clutch-centering-mandrel-bmw-hp2-r900-r1100s-r1150-r...

Re: 2009 R1200RT-P Clutch Replacement
7300 miles and it needs a clutch?? Someone had to be really hard on it or some other failure. I did mine at 95,300 miles. I've heard of others over 100,000 miles and not replacing yet. Not a huge technical job, PIA, time consuming and requires a lot of removal of panels, parts and connections. Be su...

Re: Camhead - Gear Linkage Lubrication
I've lubricated mine regularly since the weld on the shifter mount cracked with 150 miles to get home from a 1000 mile IBA ride. Bike had about 80K on it at the time it happened. It became hard to get back into 1st gear but I made it home. Can't be sure if it was due to lack of lubrication or bindin...

Re: Clutch Replacement - 2009 R1200RT
I did the clutch on my 2010 RT in September 2022. Bike had 95,300 miles on it, now has 99,800 and all good. I bought the kit from Euromotoelectrics out of Denver, CO. Kit included the Pressure Ring, Clutch Plate, Clutch Spring, Pressure Plate, and Bolts. I did buy a slave cylinder as well after I ha...

Re: Bleed nipple at master cylinder
Can't tell you the technical reason for this, but when I replaced a brake line to fit some barbacks, it was the only way to get the air out of the brake line. I tried bleeding at the wheel cylinders multiple times and no go. Found info about using this bleeder nipple and did a typical bleed procedur...

Re: Metzler Roadtech 1
Now on my 4th set of Metzeler Roadtec 01 tires last week. First set - 12,375 miles; 2nd set - 11,387 miles; 3rd set - 11,842 miles. Probably could have gone another 1500-3000 miles on any of these sets but I don't like to push it too far and I usually end up installing a new set early spri...

Re: 2013 RT nav options
Since almost all GPS mounts use a 4 bolt standard AMPS plate to mount, you can use many different options to mount a GPS at the location you desire. I'm using the BMW mount on the NAV 5 with the BMW above dash "bar" mount but I'm using an alternate Tackform mount similar to a RAM that allo...

Re: 2013 RT nav options
I don't think Wonder Wheel integration with the NAV was available until the 2014 model year. The Wonder Wheel primarily controls the radio - channels, tracks, volume, etc. on 2010-2013 models. I could be wrong but I have a 2010 model and that is all it does on mine. I recall when I purchased it I th...

Re: Shift lever sticking?
On the BMWMOA forum there was at least one and maybe 2 others who had a similar fracture and from the photo it seems the same. I’ll be removing the foot peg kickplate soon and I’ll see if I can get any other photos. Any pictures on the fiche or photos of frames online and it’s hard to see this part....

Re: Shift lever sticking?
Thanks for the reply. I forgot to post a follow-up after I did another inspection of shifter with plan to do a more complete lubrication. I found that the attachment point that is welded to the frame has broken near the weld. I'm certain this was not the condition last time when I lubricated it but ...

Shift lever sticking?
Having some issues with my 2010 R1200RT. So a couple weeks ago I did a 1000 mile trip from Denver back to Chicago after several days of riding in Denver in rainy and colder conditions. About 100 miles from home when pulling off the Interstate for gas I had some difficulty getting from 3rd ...

Agreed, installed Cyclops 3 years ago and never had to replace a bulb since. Color temperature of LED bulbs is more daylight balanced so contrast at night is better looking down the road. Buy and install Cyclops LEDs...long service life and your hands will thank you...my hands no longer have the bru...

Re: Which Sat. Nav. have you got & why?
I have a BMW NAV V and a Gamin Zumo XT. For local rides I use WAZE on my phone and the NAV V above dash as an electronic speedo and overview map. For longer planned rides with Basecamp I use the Zumo XT for routing. The XT screen is the best I have used and seen of all Zumo units and BMW units. It i...
