Edit - sorry, I didn't spot that you have a 2005 bike. Please ignore this post

Re: 10 pin diagnostic port

They've been rectangular for a while - Hex will sell you adapter cables as appropriate, depending on whether or not you have a new or old GS911.

Re: 10 pin diagnostic port

So yours doesn't look like page 167 of this manual https://manuals.bmw-motorrad.com/manual ... 717_01.pdf ?

That's a bit concerning....

Next to the +ve battery "jump start" post ?  If you don't have the manual they're downloadable from the Motorrad site.

Re: R1250RT brake fault

My rear rim gets splattered with black gunge more than the front.  I'd assumed it was stuff coming off the brakes, as with the alloys on my car, as I can't see any sign of a leak (and rear is Brembo so presumably couldn't be same assembly problem?).

Re: Top Case Interior Bulb/light replacement

Well I did say it was a dumb question :)) Intriguingly, the light fitting does not appear to be listed in the parts fiche.

It looks like you'd have to separate the inner part of the lid from the outer to get at it, not a job for those pressed for time.  I'm guessing it's an LED, not a bulb.

Re: Top Case Interior Bulb/light replacement

Forgive the dumb question but have you checked that the cable from the topcase is plugged in?  Easy check if the central locking works.

Re: rt 1200 BMW 2014 Upgrade recomendations & top case

If the BMW 49l top case is the same as the one supplied for the current RT just be aware that it will not accommodate my size 60/61 System 7 BMW helmet  :alas:

Re: Fitting a Direct power connection to R1250RT Battery

Guess I was just confused (easily done at my age) by the fact that my previous 3 bikes had not done this.

Re: Fitting a Direct power connection to R1250RT Battery

I didn't think about putting the date in  :not speak:  Since the bike gets that from the Nav VI and it wasn't on the bike at the time I guess the date was wrong....  I don't know if that would have fixed the service light, but whatever - I now have a GS911  :))

Re: Fitting a Direct power connection to R1250RT Battery

I have recently disconnected my battery in order to fit some cables and, rather annoyingly, the service light came on when I reconnected. This didn't happen with my previous F800ST. F800GT and R1200RS (all CAN bus bikes) so I wasn't expecting it with the RT. Rather than traipse back and forth to the...

Re: Fitting headlamp bulbs

Well on the current 1250RT the two outer lights are main beam and use H1 bulbs, the centre one is dip and uses an H7 bulb.  Regarding fuses, I'd guess they've all been CAN bus protected for quite some time but can't say for sure about yours.

Re: Advice on purchase and fitting of a brake light to my top box please guys.

Motorrad Bohling sell them https://www.bmw-motorrad-bohling.com/uk/bmw-topcase-led-brake-light-r1200rt-k52-k1600gt-k48-k1600gtl-k48.html but I bought mine from the dealer where I bought the bike - with discount around 10%. Very easy to fit and as a genuine BMW part I think they would be on sticky gr...
