Weekdays preferred for me, but only on dry, sunny days! Location not important (have bike, will ride).

Re: What did you do today?
+1 with Steve. I too retired early, many years ago - best job I've ever had! Managed to squeeze in four trips to see my mate in Oz (including bike rides from Perth to NSW, across The Nullarbor). Still enjoying being able to go out for a ride when the weather is at its best, rather than looking out o...

Re: A funny thing happened to my R1250RT....
Mine will start with the side stand down, but cuts out as soon as you engage gear (DAMHIK)! Also 2020 R1250RT, but never had your issue (touch wood). I keep mine on a battery tender when off the road for more than a week - perhaps it is a weak battery? Starting up and then running for a short while ...

Re: Back protectors moan
Fully agree with you, but if they included the back protector, they'd just up the price by £100 anyway. I guess having CE-approved clothing is no different to what we have had for years with helmets. As long as we can still ride free, then I'm not going to get too fussed. What we really need is some...

Re: Hot under the collar...
I rode across The Nullarbor (twice!) in 40 degree heat on a hired RT. Just used a mesh jacket, with armour fitted, summer weight gloves, boots, etc. A tad warm, but regular stops for water helped. Station Cafe, Alton
Alresford Station (other end of Bluebell Line)
Departure Lounge Cafe, near Alton
and of course,
Bahnstormers (BMW Motorrad) Cafe in Lower Farringdon
Should be OK for any Hampshire riders!

Re: Our Other Bikes
Two of my Panthers (the other is still a WIP rebuild). A bit "different" to my R1250RT, but I still enjoy riding them.

Sounds like a plan, but I only like dry, sunny days!
I'm in Berkshire, near Reading.

Terms of Use Query
Dr T,
Am I reading it incorrectly, or does line 2b have a "not" missing?
Old Foxy (also a retired Doctor, but in Chemistry!).

Re: Battery charging advice for AGM batteries
Interesting stuff. So, if you take your car out (fitted with a lead-acid battery) in sub-zero temperatures, you disconnect the alternator to avoid charging? I don't think so! Joking apart, I have always left my BMW's battery hooked up on "life support" (Optimate, in my case) over the winte...

Re: Central Locking for Sat Nav
I have one on my 2020 R1250RT and it has been excellent. BMW should have fitted this as standard, of course!

Re: Just bought an R1250RT - hence the join up!
James, I moved from a K1600GTL to an R1250RT, for reasons similar to yours. I have added bar mounted mirrors, headlight protector, fender extender, frame bung set, rear crash bars and had the most vulnerable painted surfaces covered by Paintguard. My dealer had already fitted the fly lead for the Op...

Hi Steve,
I'm interested and able to collect (cash payment) if that suits you.
Just let me know where and when. If you'd refer not to post your address here, then feel free to email me at [email protected].

Re: Mesh jackets
I use a Held mesh jacket, which I bought from Get Geared. It has some body armour and worked a treat when I rode across the Nullarbor in Oz, at temperatures up to 40C.
Anything over 20C seems to be OK - below that and I wear my normal riding gear.

Old Foxy

Had a trundle around Dorset, as the sun was shining.
