Re: New Member from Pacific NW

Welcome from across the pond. Jackronner is right, we do still deal in proper imperial mpg,  Us older guys never converted to litres and kilometres -we leave that to the kids and the guys and gals over the English Channel. ;D

Re: 2017 alarm location

Hi Yes it is under the topbox rack,  you have to remove it first, which means removing the grey plastic then the grab handles before removing the main rack  takes about 10 mins.  If you have a short Philips screwdriver you can manage without removing anything else.&nb...

Re: 2017 alarm location

Can you be a bit more explicit please, my central locking has stopped as well and also replaced fob battery. Do you mean under the top box rack? (Not currently near bike so can't look )

Re: Smoke on Start up After Sitting for a While

Park it on the side stand and leave it a month and it will smoke for about a minute. They all do it , mine did it half an hour ago due to not riding (knee is crocked ) Don't worry its not a big deal.

Re: TFT and General stuff on the 21 R1250RT

Reading between the lines about the 1250, I see no great incentive to trade up from my 1200LE.  Apart from the improved engine/gearbox and better led headlight, there is little else to tempt me yet. Perhaps I should just wait for the BMW 1250E all electric that will be put upon us in the ne...

Re: Battery life.

Mine is 6 years old and gets a BMW charger on it about every 6 weeks between November and now.  Hopefully when knee feels better, I will wheel the bike out and get some miles on it.

To be honest, from the pictures it doesn't look much different to my ebony coloured bike.

Another bit of kit that really we can all do without. Is it so hard to turn a key, like we have managed for decades?

Re: Has BMW changed the turn signals to auto-cancel on completion of a turn?

Think my Yamaha self cancelled in the 1970's and certainly most of my Japanese 4's in the 80's and 90's did too.  Have always found my RT to go on for several hundred yards before self cancelling. As a result I never use the function and just turn indicators off manually after making the tu...

With interest rates at  pittance, just use my pension pot to buy what I want with the cash.  Paid into a good pension scheme for 42 years boosted by AVC's, now I reap the benefits.

I don't know Caspar, but realise he has a great deal of experience riding various RT models. To that end ,I value his opinion and input, but I don't always agree with some of his comments. This is a forum, mostly good humoured and informative. If we gain a little knowledge, make friends with like mi...

Re: If you have a "blow dryer" which do you have would you recommend it?

Seriously!  It was a joke.

Personally, I think all of this is a bit OCD and have never felt the need for any kind of air dryer. Keep my LC in a garage ,sprayed with ACF50 and that suffices after any washdown.
