Re: Flapper Valve.

Thanks to all the contributions to this thread. Butterfly valve seized open at some point over the winter (probably due to not getting cycled). Bike still under warranty but I didn't want a new downpipe/cat/butterfly assembly just to have the same issue occur again later. The dealer couldn't even te...

Re: 7 Jurock shield

+1 for the 7 Jurock screen.  Offers Goldwing levels of protection.  Heaps better than the standard touring option from BMW.

Re: New Member from Chicago

Hi Falco, that's am impressive CV and bike collection.  We too are allowed to lane split in the UK, as long as your speed is 'appropriate'.  All very civilised. Enjoy your RT, get back to us with your impressions once you have a few miles done.  It will be interesting to s...

Re: New member and getting back into riding

Hi Paul, There are very few on here who would have a bad word to say about the RT.  I include myself in their number.  Buy with confidence and enjoy the glorious roads in the west.  Best regards from the east.  :D

Re: Hello to you all.

I also traded in a K1600GTLE for a 2020 R 1250 RT.  No regrets, prefer the 'relative' simplicity of the Boxer.  The lower weight is also very welcome.

Re: Wobbly feeling on my RT coming from a testride on a japanese bike

When I set off on a 'new ride' the bike feels like it's 'falling' into very low speed corners.  This sensation disappears very quickly.  Very odd but very consistent sensation.  Not an issue, just a feature.  8)

Testament to the bikes quality suspension that the outcome was not worse.  Last time I did that (a good few years ago) the bike landed on the deck!

Re: Considering Coming Over from S1000R - What to know?

In an attempt to summarise, if I may, buy the R1250RT.  They are fabulous machines, you will not regret it.  There are many well proven ways to sort the seat to your satisfaction.

Re: Returning to the fold?

Always loved our previous Beemers and toured all over the UK and Europe on them so hopefully the R1250RT will live up to expectations. Reasons for moving back to a Beemer is that Mrs Pillion is finding the XRT a bit too uncomfortable on longer journeys so it's back to the plushness of BMW seating, h...

Re: Battery life.

My last battery lasted more than 7 years, still working when I sold the bike.  I did ensure that whenever the bike was not in use the battery was connected to the optimate.

Re: Which Sat. Nav. have you got & why?

I have Nav VI.  I have it because it came with my last bike (K1600).  Works well, easy to use, integrated into the bike.
Badly let down by map updates which I have found impossible to complete due to extremely slow download speeds despite my superfast fibre service.

Re: Buying advice/opinions

Chaffin awabe!  Great bike the K1600.  I had a K1600B with nice set of quad Remus pipes fitted.  Also had a stunning K1600GT with the Akra exhausts.  The GT I just found too top heavy and actually struggled to establish a really comfortable all-day riding positio...

Hi Talisker, thanks for feedback and info.  Good to hear from you, I have previously been a neighbour of yours as I used to 'bide' in Newmachar!  Working down south at moment but home and residence still up your way, just further south now.  Bypass has made a brilliant&am...
