Top case, old or new model?

It’s decided I need a topcase for my 1200 RT LC, well my wife needs one to feel safer! From a rational standpoint I should go for a Givi or Shad which are much cheaper and better designed than BMW ones BUT if I were to be rational I wouldnt have bought an RT so I’ll be consistant and will buy a BMW ...

2018 R1200 RT Firts impressions

At last I’ve my “new” 2018 RT. I’ve riden a few kms round the mountains of Madrid over the last two days. Foggy, coldish and wetish weather. Don’t know why it has taken me so long to get an RT. Before trying any RT, I used to think that it was too big of a bike to really enjoy. Mistake! Is not that ...

What to do, torn into 3 options?

This morning I had a ride on a 1250RT demo bike! First impressions: - It feels much smaller than I thought. If it wasnt for the mirrors it could even city filter (almost) - At 5’ 7” the bike suits me fine on low position standard seat, still cant flatfoot but it’s very easy to move around due to low...

Re: New kid in town and a “big” question

...... Plan ahead, avoid tight situations, is that u-turn really really necessary, be aware of that camber that drops away so abruptly that your foot will never make contact with terra ferma. In a nutshell all bikes require an individual technique and a variable amount of constant planning in order...

Re: New kid in town and a “big” question

It may be a bit "tippy" for you in some situations:  Backing up on uneven,or slippery ground, or when you stop athwart a hill I learned to handle a tall (tall for me might bee small for someone else) bike like the Vstrom 650XT fully loaded the hard way, with a couple of stupid fa...

Re: New kid in town and a “big” question

Thanks a bunch for all replies! Thought that this forum cater for all 1200RT equally but seems keener on LC units. No wonder,  the LC is a better machine in all aspects but price and, to me only, aesthetics Think that the 11-13 model will do for me even more so with the comfort seat which m...

New kid in town and a “big” question

Hi everybody, I’m an old biker from Spain, well not that old really, just LX. I’ve had a number of bikes over the years, including an R65 airhead. Currently have a 98 Triumph Thunderbird Sport, 91 Kw Zephyr and 18 Suz Vstrom. I’m planning on selling the Vstrom and buying a 2011-13 R1200RT. Me and th...
