Luggage bags.

Change of bike means I have a few bits no longer required. All BMW items, inner bags for panniers and top case, tank bag. The pannier bags are in good condition as I am not the original owner of these. Top case bag and tank bag I bought last year and only used for a 2 week euro tour and so in excell...

Re: 2021 Nav system alternate.

There is a company in the states that makes an RF shield which would fit the sat nav mount above the tft. However, despite two emails I've not had a reply asking if they ship over here. Still looking for a solution, but in the meantime I have a ram mount on the handlebar assembly replacing the bmw l...

Re: 2021 Nav system alternate.

I have mounted a zumo xt above the tft, same as your 590. I get interference from the tft which results in loss of GPS signal. Is this a problem with the 590? It seems the loss of signal is a common problem and I'm looking for a way to minimise it.

Re: TFT and Nav instructions

I use an interphone tour and when riding solo all is good. However, when in intercom mode I also lose spoken directions from the tft. I am also unable to use the fm radio built into the tour when it is connected to the bike. I just wonder if the BMW headsets are better suited, at a cost of course.....

Re: On the Horn

IIRC it's only the early 2005 RT that had twin horns, 2006 onwards has a single unit which I had on my 2006 model. The horn on my 2022 is another matter, twin tone and loud!

Re: Advice new RT rider

I covered 60,000 miles on a 2006 RT over 8 years, never had an issue with the servo brakes. Brake fluid changed regularly probably helped. They don't all fail, and it's only the failures you hear about.

Re: GPS not hooking up to speakers

Hi, When I had a 2006 RT the audio system wasn't Bluetooth.  I am sure your bike will be the same, its the later lc models that are. At the time I used a wired autocom, that allowed me to listen to the audio and sat nav in helmet speakers. Alternatively a Bluetooth headset would connect to ...

Re: Navigator 6

You need the car kit available from BMW for around 90 pounds. Now and again on eBay.

Re: Map update

When I had my zumo 550 I used the garmin map install programme and put all the maps on an SD card. Once inserted into the device worked a treat.

Hope that helps

Trip info

Hi,

Which model year of RT will display trip info on the navigator 6, please? My 14 model doesn’t, but I know the 18 year does. Looking to update so any help would be appreciated.

Many thanks

Re: LOW VOLTAGE ON FUEL PUMP CONTROL UNIT

Fuel pump relay is a known issue, mine failed on my 2006 RT a few years back. To confirm it was the problem I put 12v straight onto the pump and the bike sprang into life. Early relays were silver, later modified ones are black.

Re: R1250RT Camera mount

I have a garmin virb camera mounted using the screen mount. It obviously moves with the screen but the field of vision is such that there's little effect on the picture. I have the camera hard wired to the bike so no battery issues, and I can control it from the nav vi.

Re: NAV VI Ghosting

I'm currently on my fourth nav iv, the original one bought dec 17, all for ghosting. The third unit lasted the longest, just under two years, and was replaced foc a couple of weeks ago. Hopefully this one will last. My wife's bike has the nav v which has been far more reliable so if I have any furth...

Re: Sidelight bulb

Thanks for the link, but I just can't get my fingers in far enough to remove the sidelight.  Haynes manual suggests using pliers but doesn't say if it just pulls out or if clips need squeezing to release it. I'll have another go after Xmas.
