Good Afternoon, A quick question regarding the Mineral Oil warning on the front brake master cylinder, what is this, I cant find BMW Mineral Oil, only brake fluid? I'm used to light oil being used in Shimano and SRAM brakes on my cycles but never seen it on a motorcycle before. Cheerrs

Takes two minutes when you get back with a nozzle on a hose, that said it wont stop the stone chips but the world isn't perfect

Re: Gearing up for my last best bike. Strongly considering the RT. What says you?

Personally, I'm 52, and an RT would have been the last thing I considered, well any large touring bike for that matter, I was used to RDs, Z1000J, then ZX10s, ZZRs, SP1s, SP2s, 916, 996, 998 Ducati's, Triumphs Speed and Street triples (the Street is an awesome little bike) and Classics (one of which...

Re: Handgrip Wind Deflectors?

As an alternative you could look at which BMWs use the same brake and clutch levers, for my partners Triumph Street Triple we noticed that the Tiger 800 had the same controls so I purchased the covers made for this model and put them on the Street Triple, these combed with heated grips means she rid...

Re: Front end shake/vibration at over 70mph

For me, it would be, work my way through from the tyre to the head bearings
Check the tyre, could be damaged
Check the balance weights, have you lost one?
Is the wheel round
Then forks, are they loose, this could be the bearings / ball joint in the 'A' Frame
Finally head bearings

Re: 2007rt fork oil replacement

I'd suggest the OEM oil as you want to ensure it has the correct additives in it, whilst oils are listed as being this weight and that standard etc, its best to ensure that have all the bases covered in regard to corrosion protection (this would also be electrolytic cell) and seal life by ensuring i...

Re: Gearbox Oil Twincam RT

There is a lot of discussion on other forums to "suggest" that OEM BMW Synthetic OSP is relabelled Castrol SAF-XO. Also that the Castrol SAF-XO is factory fit. In 2010 when I bought my first Camhead, the supplying dealer gave me a BMW motorcycle lubricant recommendation chart. At the time...

Re: Gearbox Oil Twincam RT

The OEM oil is twice the price of that paid for Liqui Moly. Having worked for a Marine Diesel OEM and knowing why they spec what they do and the potential issues of getting it wrong, I'd still use OEM over the service interval its almost an insignificant cost, it's the same with air and oil filters...

Re: Gearbox Oil Twincam RT

Just love an "oil" thread

I'm not too sure why people get so worked up over it, at the end of the day you change it so infrequently you may as well go with the OEM specified oil as there is no doubt it's correct and the cost will be spread out over a few years

Started with Rainx, but I've now moved to carnauba paint wax as it seems to last longer and does the same thing

I've seen spinning visors in old biker photos, not too sure why you'd want one of these as Rainx or similar work well

Re: New to the R1200rt in the East Midlands UK

Probably due to weight, design, testing, manufacturing costs and actual use, BMW know that the majority of the bikes are ridden in summer, therefore, why add something that 95% of the riders wouldn't want, I find the heated seat and heated grips more than enough, perhaps you need to invest in some h...
