Anyone have experience bleeding clutch on an LT??

Sorry for the off topic, going on a fairly short tour with my brother, he on his 04 K1200LT, his clutch feels like a stick through mud. The fluid is contaminated and def needs some fresh goo. I have found some info, but nothing like the concise and infallible advise I have been blessed with from y'a...

Re: Clutch slipping after long(ish) storage

I agree that the mileage would almost preclude the friction disc itself wearing out under normal operation. As you may already know, its a bit of a job to get at the clutch but you can get a glimpse through the plastic dust cover on top. Might be worth a few bucks to buy an endoscope... pretty sure ...

Missing fastener?? Help....

I am missing the female fastener for the screw hole shown in the pic. This is the left side body piece that goes over the tank, top front of the fairing just below the cluster. There is a pretty decent size square cutout that this tab fits over, I believe there should be a female receiver for an M5 ...

Re: Quick pic of the new to me RTP

Saw the AL tag, hello from Ft Rucker area of LA. Only about 7,000 miles, sure that is not 107,000 miles? Looks nice and clean. Yes its legit 8k, the bike came out of Bmingham (UAB) and they decided to deadhead the bike rather than replacing the clutch friction disc. To be fair, whoever was riding i...

21MM offset spanner for ball joint nut???

Hi. guys, I am down to the last two maintenance items on the RTP #1. Replacing the dust boot on the telelever ball joint. I do not have a 21mm offset spanner, can someone concur/verify that this is the correct size? The part is an M14 nut that I believe translates to 21mm correct? #2. Alt belt. I kn...

Re: Looking for Organic EBC front brake pads

David figured it was a wear indicator an you can def see through it..... : ) Ed Harley Yep, I looked, none found, and as mentioned, I overlooked sintered front pads, I only NEEDED rears, so was a little focused on that job, but decided to swap the fronts out as well and just carried the "organ...

Re: Looking for Organic EBC front brake pads

Quick follow up, while looking at the owners manual, I saw the rear pads spec'd organic and just assumed front and back were the same and that is not accurate. The manual stipulates sintered on the front discs.... so in spite of myself I actually managed to get it right.... : )

Looking for Organic EBC front brake pads

I found rear organic EBC pads but cant seem to find organics for the front. I see that the go to is the sintered pads, but I prefer the organics, can anyone link me to a part#??? Does EBC even offer an organic pad for the front discs? **Edit** N'mind, after reading more comments I caved and ordered ...

Re: Anyone riding out today

Quick break in ride to bed-in the new clutch disc. I live in N. Alabama just south of the Tennessee state line, rode up to Lynchburg, TN about 50 miles away the long way, amazing two lane backroads there and back. I was riding conservatively waiting for the clutch to bed in and about 150mi (rode 70 ...

Re: Has anyone replaced the front Telelever dust boot?

Thanks David I am going to grab the one at the boneyard. I am little burned out on working on the bike go figure and I still need to do the brakes, waiting for the pads to show up as well, but I got a great ride in today!!! Bike runs GREAT! I was taking it easy waiting for the clutch to bed in and a...

Has anyone replaced the front Telelever dust boot?

I overlooked this before, but discovered while I was washing up the bike that there is a noticeable split in the bottom of the dust boot, def big enough to let contaminants into the joint. Is this difficult at all? TIA -Doug
