Re: Off to Spain/Portugal at the weekend
Hi James, I went to France, Spain, Portugal, back into Spain then Andorra and back through France. My first trip into Europe, 4025 miles in 14 days, absolutely brilliant. Some of the best riding was in Portugal, I'm sure you will enjoy it just make sure you have good breakdown cover and health insur...

Off to Spain/Portugal at the weekend
I've done a couple of trips round Wales, and a couple of up and down to Scotland so far, but nothing more than that, so it will be interesting how I get on with the bike over a few thousand miles. So I'll do a few pictures and notes when I get home on how things went and what worked and what didn't,...

Re: Just got a 2023 R1250RT today
Welcome to the forum  Hill hold is usually activated by pulling the brake lever firmly and then releasing it when at rest if you have it, so if you have done this and it does not engage it's likely not on your bike. A lot of the 1250s are still under warranty, so I guess the number of people...

Re: Would you A B C or D
I'd have to want it, nothing is cheap if you don't want it, and if the cost to change did not look favourable then I would stick with what I have as it's not even two years old yet

Re: Luggage
I tend to just leave it all on, the panniers are good leg protection in a crash, and the top box is just handy. With no crash bars in place it takes just a few minutes to take off all the luggage

Re: Average wage rant
The whole point of an "average wage" is that it takes into consideration everyone, not just the people you think you know who are on just over £20k. Just think - any doctor/lawyer/surveyor etc. is likely to be on £60k+, quite possible double that. Even teachers get £35k/40k, and my son wor...

Re: Low Seat Airhawk vs Sargent?
I can't answer your question per say, but would point out the seat has two positions for high and low regardless of the actual seat, so check which one your currently on as this may solve your potential issue?

Re: Drilling holes in screens !
I have the same screen and it's actually half an inch taller at full height! But the shape makes the air flow better in my opinion I think it's the right size and the air management is good I can't remember, I'm going for memory, but I think you can get the OEM screen in different sizes, and also t...

Re: Drilling holes in screens !
Mine looks like a couple of inches taller and a different shape at the sides, it does not look much when next to each other, but there is a big difference the way the air is directed over and around you, for the money I paid for it (new) it was a bargain, I'd buy another in the future.

Re: Theft
Thieves don't care about the soul, just the £s, so anything they can turn a few quid on is in the cross hairs, and as the RT is still one of the most popular models it's going to get some attention

Bike Mechanic - near Wigan/St Helens?
Looking for a bike mechanic near Wigan/St Helens for a pretty easy job - unless your me  I have a BMW R1250RT at the moment and bought both foot lower's and handlebar risers from Wunderlich, but I'm not familiar with fitting the handlebar ones as your need a "drift" of some type to f...

Re: Drilling holes in screens !
That's why bikes like the Gold wing had a vent. I was thinking of putting a Goldwing vent in my screen I just could not find a screen that had these for the R1250RT when I was looking for one I liked, I had one on my last bike with the vent and it solved the problem: https://i.postimg.cc/90Y1NJF1/2...

Drilling holes in screens !
I fitted a Power bronze touring screen to my 22 RT and felt that although it was better than the original, the added size meant I was getting a bit more forward suction from the low pressure area that builds up behind the screen. My solution was to drill 4 x 13mm hols in the screen to see if this he...
