Re: Hi from East Yorkshire

Hi and welcome. Check the wiring hasn't chaffed by it rubbing on the switch cluster or somewhere else. Had that on my last BMW.

Re: MOT time

When I bought my 20 plate from Bowkers earlier this year they gave me a letter saying they'd test it for free but couldn't fit it in when I asked for it! Luckily I have a really old skool bike mechanics up the road from me where I take all my bikes anyway, who could do it. I always say if you don't ...

Re: Knee replacement

Are there any alternatives? Has she been offered other treatments? Doctors have been trying to change bits of my knees since the early 90's and I keep saying no and work on building muscle around the joint to support it.I have spoken to people who say it's the best thing they ever did and have spoke...

Re: Front brake lever sinks

You could just try cable tying the front brake lever as far back to the bars as you can and leave it overnight.

Re: R1300GS

I have a rule that I won't buy a bike that costs as much as my first house whether new or used. Always nice to have a bit of perspective . ;)

Re: Buying a 2005 R1200RT advice

I would be fine with buying it but that's me. There are a lot of things you can service yourself if you have the talent and inclination. If it's got past 40 thou I'd like to think it was good for another 40. ;)

Cheapest way would be a breakers, some of the Chinese places might offer them but it's a long slog looking for them on some sites.

Re: Buying a 2005 R1200RT advice

Hiya, which end is the service history missing? I'm no expert but if the initial history is missing that would be worse for me than if the later history wasn't done by BMW. Not everyone wants to pay dealer servicing costs on an older bike and that's fine as long as its still been serviced somewhere ...

Re: Quick Wales trip

Thanks for all the comments, you are all correct. I have a mini compressor and plug kit, even a bottle of Stans no tubes which has saved me before but for a couple of miles before it went, the bike felt like I was riding over a washboard at low speed. I was 4 miles from where we were staying so deci...

Re: Quick Wales trip

Going on Friday for a long weekend in Dolgellau. Been before and have a nice unusual place to stay overlooking the town. People drive north to the Lakes and the Highlands or south to the Cotswolds or the west country and miss out on this gem of a country. Weather isn't looking great but we'll manage...
