Re: Luggage

I'd just get a pair of these on ebay and mount them to the wall:

I'm afraid I can't get to them at the moment. This is the only image I have:

Re: Luggage

I was going to make some brackets from used pannier rails but managed to pick up a pair of Wunderlich brackets which did the same job on ebay last year. I don't think they sell them any more:

Re: Luggage

Ditto.

I've had the bike a year and have used the panniers once. They are mounted to the garage wall above my car the rest of the time.
Less weight, easier to filter through traffic and less chance of damaging them than if I leave them kicking around the floor.

Re: Airhawk vs Cool Covers Seat Covers

I see one on there for £12.98 but the pictures are for a LC seat. Are they sufficiently generic to fit both? Is it just the front seat cover? https://www.temu.com/uk/for-bmw-r1200rt-r1200-r-1200-rt-1200rt-motorcycle-accessories-mesh-seat-cushion-cover-protection-insulation-seat-cover-protector-g-601...

Re: Cleaning the Vehicles

It became a chore when my knees started to hurt!

I give them a quick wash while on the ground now and stick them on the bike lift for proper cleaning.

Re: What don't you like

I've had mine for a year now and have been pleasantly surprised by it. I find the stock seat more than comfortable enough and the finish is not as bad as I had expected. I think owners that ride through the winter, particularly without a mudguard extender, and expect no damage to the engine finish a...

Re: What did you do today?

Shame about your MT-10 experience. Presumably there is a bad batch of ECUs, it's not one I've heard of before. Interesting too to hear about the switchgear. The last Yamaha I rode was an XSR900 but I have no recollection of the switchgear. Strangely it is one of the few things that I dislike about m...

Re: Centre stand removal

I was wondering about doing that and using some black silicone/adhesive to hold it in place.

Re: Thinking of getting a 2nd bike

MT10?
Bloody lovely thing if it is. Small tank and heavy fuel consumption is the only thing that put me off a few years ago. Still waiting for a Tracer 10.

Re: Centre stand removal

Thanks for that. I'll be doing mine soon.
I have a better spare that I'll be painting with Hammerite. I find that as soon as powder coat chips it starts coming off in chunks. At least with hammerite I can touch it up whenever it is on the lift.

Re: Keis Heated Kit with 3rd Party Controller

I bought a Keiss heated vest years ago and have only used it once on the bike. It gets plenty of use at the touchline of freezing hockey pitches though! I set up a dedicated lead on the Buell for the vest rather than use the 12V ciggy lighter sockets. Should I do the same on the RT or can I just plu...

Re: Fork service

I'd drain the fork with the dirty oil then empty the clean oil from the other leg into the one that had the dirty fluid. Pump it through a bit then drain before filling both legs with fresh oil.

Re: Home Servicing

If you are buying new/nearly new bikes and changing them every year or two then main dealer servicing is a must to retain value. My bikes are 27, 15 and 14 years old and I generally keep them for at least 10 years. Self servicing is the only way to get to know and trust an older bike. There is a sli...
