Re: Sargent seat

So i got out on the RT today, and it was the first time with the Sargent seat. I found the seat very comfortable, BUT the sideing on the seat i did not like. Sliding back and forth, nuts hitting the tank i just did not enjoy the ride. So i have sent a message to Triboseat covers to see if they have...

Re: Cracked screen, should I panic?

Are there supposed to be grommets on the bolts? My (new) 2021 was assembled with no grommets on the w/shield bolts. They also used 2 right brackets rather than one left & one right. So it's not always used bikes w/ unknown issues. I have seen a video about changing the screen on a tft model. Th...

Re: Cracked screen, should I panic?

I guess the problem with buying a used bike is you never know what has been done previously or what is ‘standard’. The nylon washers are also missing from all six holes on mine, so I will get those sorted. It’s difficult to tell from the assembly drawing I’ve found online where the washers are inte...

Re: Cracked screen, should I panic?

I have just had to replace my screen as mine was cracked on all six holes. The bottom holes had the cracks big enough for me to see outside the trim and my OCD cost me £350 to replace like for like. According to my dealer the cracks are common if the screen is over tightened. Also note that a plasti...

Re: Battery Life

Also note that BMW changed the specification as a result of starting issues to a higher specification CCA. This will have impacted the life of some bikes fitted batteries as they would have been working relatively harder. It will be difficult to work out the usual lifespan, but could explain the sho...

Re: There all the same now

Yes I agree with you. I changed from my last KTM as the drive to save weight translated into make it a smaller bike so little room for a pillion was the result. It will be interesting to see real world reviews for the 1300GS as that has been made smaller. I await TMF’s (The Missendon Flyer) pillion ...

Re: r1250rt handlebar width

Hi. Just in case you are not aware but it is not recommended to tie an RT down by the handlebars at all. I remember reading something a few years ago that it damages the front suspension. The tie down point is to wrap around each fork just above the bottom fork clamp. That gives a solid tie point bu...

Re: Instrument Display

Thank you for that Mac, it seems to have worked. I will leave the bike for a bit and see if its still on the speed setting later. I also have another thing i cant sort. There is an AVG MPG for both trip 1 and trip 2. Which a member told me how to reset. On the bike i have reset both of the MPG for ...

Re: Why the BMW RT

WHY Needed a bike that could be comfortable two up and able to cover distance at a good pace. Had to be powerful and sporty enough to handle B roads and the odd blast solo as well as long rides without getting battered by wind buffeting. Went for a 2019/2020 as I didn’t like the TFT and I use a Gar...

Re: GS Top Yoke Conversion Kit

Looking very good and post saved for my decisions on riding position once I can get out more with the wife. Just a thought at 4 years or so, we have the same year bike, the brake master cylinder cap rubber will have lost the ability to seal properly. I bled my brakes last autumn and thought it was a...

Douglas wrote: Sat Mar 02, 2024 2:47 pm Hi, I had exactly the same problem when I purchased my RT in 2109. Dealer changed both front callipers and haven't had a problem since.
That’s good to know, thanks.

I have it on mine and asked the dealer at the time and he just said it’s the angel eyes in it but no idea if that is correct as I thought they all had it?

Re: Free Shaft replacement from BMW

Booked mine in for a service today at my original dealer, Alton. They stated the video was 90% accurate and have double checked with BMW as they have had a lot of calls after the video went on line. At 36k miles the drive shaft will be replaced but in the RT no official instruction to fit the drain ...

Re: Free Shaft replacement from BMW

In the video it talks about having to have had the weep hole and drain rubber fitted, I think it says before the drive shift change. When I spoke to the dealer on Saturday he said BMW were not at the point of doing my bike yet, they have lots to do and are working through slowly. He mentioned I was ...
