Re: What do you consider lugging the engine?

I comfortably cruise below 3k, but I don't like to accelerate hard from so low revs.
My 1200 wakes up above 3.5k and is fun to ride above 4k where the quick shifter works better too.

To answer your question, I wouldn't "lugg it" or ride it below 2.5k.

Not technically me, but Dunlop Mutants are coming onto the Blue Motor Whale today.

Re: What did you do today?

Replaced rear brake pads. It was easier than on a bicycle! Still there was a smidge over 1mm left :ugeek: I couldn't see the coolant level in the inspection window. The first time I've removed the side fairing, and I was over the level. Just to get the new tyres and I am ready for two weeks in Spain!

Re: 2023 Poll of Tyre Options

Dunlop Mutants had been ordered, I'll report as soon as I empty the first fuel tank on them. The quote was €440 fitted for the pair.

Re: Gear Assist Pro

My 2105 is clunky between 1st, 2nd and 3r. I shift among those gears manually only, when riding with pillion, as I don't want her to brake her back (or to bump her helmet into mine). You are correct, the assist is to disengage the engine's power (or the rev it), you still have to use the gear pedal ...

Re: Road Tax

In Ireland, there is no Road Tax, but Motor Tax. I've paid €88 for the year on my 1200RT.

Re: Shark OXO

I've walked with it on my head in a store for about half an hour. It feels more solid than my Scorpion ADX-2, but my head shape is not the best fit, so I'll keep squeezing my noggin into the ADX-2, till I drop it. My partner tried it, found it more comfortable than her existing helmet, but again, af...

Re: Glasses with flexible temples

I went for the cheap Chinese ones, as my lenses are bloody expensive. Lenses only cost more than the Flying Eyes frames with shipment. Flying Eyes don't ship testing to Europe, from what I could read, and they are not sold anyhwere locally. My nose seems to be too slim for majority of normal frames,...

Tracker location

Now I know, it sounds as fishy as it could be, but I treated myself to Monimoto tracker (version 7) that does not need external power. I don't work on Blue Motor Whale much (I don't have neither garage nor workshop), so I would be attempting to strip the bike as little as possible. Could you share (...

Re: RT handling

I feel the same, the bike has tendency to lean into a corner more than I would like to. That is when riding on my own. I think it is more for me to get the bike tilted more than it has to be, as I like moving a bike under me. It does not happen when riding with pillion. So it has to be me as rider. ...

Re: Duration of RT Ownership

It is my first year of ownership, 9,000km on mine and 1,000km on rented one on a holiday. After communist two-stroke 350 and Honda 250 thumper, it is the best bike I ever rode (without surprise). The bike is "third" hand, but previous owners treated it amazingly. I've just clocked 30,000km...

Re: Where can I find this Ramm ball mount?

Do you mean this one? https://www.normski-bmw.co.uk/product-page/clutch-lever-ram-bolt I had it one day, but it was a bit too tight, my clutch lever was not returning fully on a sunny day and because of that the clutch switch didn't disengage and my quick-shifter wasn't working. I'll need to get it ...

Re: BMW 1200rt phone mount

I have one and use it. Mine is with inductive charging. Works well with Samsung S10e phone, however... I have removed my phone from normal case and since using it in the linked cradle, my screen developed slowly creeping HW fault that I'll be trying to repair soon. I am not blaming the phone holder,...
