Re: 1300 RT & RS
The styling is all angles. Reminds me of WW1 ship camouflage. I prefer curves!

It sounds like a charging issue. Have you had that checked out?

Re: What do you consider lugging the engine?
I try to keep the engine above 3000rpm. The torque curve below that is better than most engines, but does not allow for quick maneuvering without a downshift. While a downshift does not take much time, I sometimes find that a quick blip of the throttle will allow me to avoid traffic issues. Lugging ...

Re: What did you do today?
We had a club ride to a State Park 120 miles away down nice, twisty, country roads! At 80 miles in, TPS told me that my brand new rear tire was going flat quickly. With lots of help from the other guys, we got the spike of bone (Bone!?!) out, put in a plug, and pumped it back up. One of the other gu...

Re: Would you buy a BMW Pista?
All style (and not good style IMHO), and not better than the GS. I was not impressed with the rest of the pack. And who thought a pink Suzuki would be appealing?!

Re: Bike friendly hotels
In the US, we also have 'motorcycle resorts'. That can mean they have cabins, a hotel, camping spots, or any combination of those. I have stayed several times at Iron Horse Motorcycle Lodge in Stecoah, North Carolina. Very welcoming, a variety of accommodations, and they serve a good breakfast and s...

Re: Which fuel
Hmmm, yesterday I filled up with 93 octane for $3.19/US gallon, so about $.85 per liter. So, about .76 pounds UK, or .88 Euro per liter. So, gas here is about half the price of gas in the UK. Bigger difference than I thought.
Our price includes $.44/gallon state and federal tax.

Re: 2023 Poll of Tyre Options
No idea of how many miles we're on the Bridgestones. They were not to the wear bars, but noticeably flat on top . They were on the bike when I bought it at auction last October. I then rode it 2400 miles home. Those tires required a definite push to get the bike to turn, and handling was stiff. I ha...

Re: What did you do today?
I spent the past two days doing a 2-day on-road riding course at the BMW Performance Center in South Carolina. Really excellent training! Challenging and informative, the instructors are wonderful. I rode a R1250GS, and learned a lot about what all of these bikes can do. I highly recommend that if y...

Re: Tools 1st oil change
My manual says the level 5 minutes after riding should be in the top half of the sight glass.
So you're good.
I do wish that BMW used a dip stick, though.

Interesting! I had no idea that Bruce's habit of regularly breaking a vice was his worst vice.

Nope, it's "Vise Grips". You clamp things in a vise. Some folks belong in a cell due their "vice".

Re: R1200rt
Easy test: Remove the K&N filter and see if that makes a difference. If not, then replace the resistor. If those are the only two mods, then one or the other (or both) are the cause.
