Re: New Northern Monkeys HQ.

In consultation with a fellow NM, I'd like to suggest that Fields Garden Centre near Sherburn-in-Elmet, https://www.fieldsgardencentre.co.uk/kitchen/ becomes the new NM's HQ. How do others feel about this idea as a base to meet up and/or have a circular ride out from. Good idea, nice location, know...

South Lincs/Notts

Following on to avoid a hijack.......

Any interest in a ride into South Lincolnshire, Notts, possibly North Leics. from a base somewhere around Rother Valley Country Park? Some lovely quiet roads.

There’s some lovely roads in the county, but particularly fond of the Barney Bends from Horncastle up to Grimsby.
Agree. Been there many times and the B1225 down from Caistor. Minimal traffic and mostly good surfaces.

Re: MU vs SE

A French trip in 1990 on a Kawasaki ZX10, arrived at Cherbourg with an hour to spare, and wifey appears after a comfort break with a wine sign clock about 4’x3’. Incidentally it’s absolutely pouring down, biblical stuff and she’s got the bliddy thing balanced on her knees. The ferry trip was a wild...

Re: MU vs SE

Age limit at Bahnstormers is 76 so I’ve got a couple of years left. I had enquired about a test ride on a K1600 but the service guy declined when my bike was in for a shaft check, then he asked if I’d had much experience on ‘big bikes’… what are they 350kgs? I suspect that 2-up on a 328kg ST1300 wi...

Re: South West & South Wales Area

@ David.

Ilkeston/Rother Valley idea is interesting. Could have a good rideout from either. Might be worth another thread, see if it generates any interest. I'd be in for either and happy to help with a route.

Re: MU vs SE

I have a Honda Varadero 1000, and it is like riding sitting in a armchair. I have said on here before, that i wanted my RT to feel the same. And the best thing i found for me was fitting the GS handlebars and lower foot rest brackets, The RT is now very close to how i feel on the Varadero. I've had...

Re: MU vs SE

Lowering foot rest brackets, standard hight seat and handlebar risers, will change the way the bike feels to sit on. Standard seat with Nippy Norman's footpeg lowering kit works for me. Sadly didn't take them off the last bike. Not needed bar risers so far. I've found over the years that sitting mo...

Re: MU vs SE

@ Chris Not telling you how to suck eggs or anything. But do you stand on the foot peg to get on and off. I have started doing it this way and it makes it a lot better getting on and off. My hips are ok, but my knees are FK. Haven't tried that but will deffo give it a go, thanks. This was a low sea...

Re: MU vs SE

Don't worry Chris it will pass, what you have experienced is what every GS rider experiences everytime they get on and off the GS. Watch Sims face when getting of his bike.... Been there and back many times over the years, grit teeth and carry on. Thought SIm always looked like that but better be c...

Re: MU vs SE

On my recent travels looking for a bike I was confronted with a rather discouraging situation. I was in my local dealers looking at a bike and enquiring about a test ride. The sales chap looked at me rather coyly and asked my age. Here's me thinking 'I know I'm endowed with youthful good looks but s...
