Re: Seat Height Advice

They offered “factory-lowered” models for years but I don’t know if they still do. If not, likely there wasn’t sufficient demand for them. I have the opposite problem — at 6’6”, the seats are too low!

Re: 1200rt tyres like a cat

This time of the year you’re bound to find cash-back deals and rebates from the big manufacturers, so this might inform your decision too.

There are probably no “bad” tires out there. Buy what you like and what fits your budget. If all else fails, follow BMW’s recommendations and don’t sweat it.

Re: The Great Oil Debate

Why is this a debate? Use what you like. If you want to be anal, follow the manufacturer’s recommendation and avoid the second-guessing.

Re: Knee help... Footpeg Lowering?

I’m using the Suburban Machinery lowering kit on my ‘15. They make a world of difference for me (6’6”).

Re: Taller screen

I’m 6’6” and have been very pleased with the 24” 7Jurock screen on my ‘15 RT. They make a screen to fit your ‘11 RT — about $185.

Re: Fuel prices

The other winners are the investors who own oil company stock. I’m always amused by those who whine about higher energy prices but fail to hedge themselves by owning oil company stock and sharing in the profits through increased share prices and dividend payouts. It’s not difficult.

Re: how many ride all year?

I was able to ride year ‘round when I lived in San Diego but since moving to Colorado twenty years ago, I’m now lucky if I can get to ride 4 months out of the year. It’s simply too cold and snowy / icy to ride here any more than that.

Re: Wet Head HP loss at elevation

I live in Colorado at 8000’ elevation, routinely ride at 10,000-12,000’, and have had my RT to over 14,000’ on several occasions. Absolutely no issues with power loss (though I’m sure there is some) and you’ll be amazed at the improvement in your gas mileage. There are a few gas stations selling non...

Re: New member and question.

Welcome! I have a ‘12 R1200R, so basically the same bike under the skin. I’ve not heard that steering bearings are a common issue on these bikes, but with the mileage on yours, it certainly couldn’t hurt to follow your dealer’s advice and get it sorted before you take delivery.

Re: Transport Ohio to Las Vegas....Reviews are Scary!!!

I’ve used Haul Bikes six times (both buying and selling) and heartily recommend them. Very professional and easy to work with. I’ve never ever had any issues whatsoever with bikes arriving damaged or anything like that. Keep in mind they’ve been impacted by driver shortages like everyone else and pi...
