Re: New to the RT forum

Re the topbox conundrum, there are some real bargains on eBay for the genuine 49ltr boxes. Silver ones look ok but if you want it colour coded you can get this done for £125-150 if you shop around. Paying less will invariably result is a poor finish but given that unmarked boxes can be sought for £3...

Re: New to the RT forum

Welcome Steve. I bought the old model topbox as I too couldn't swallow the rip off price of the new style. It looks absolutely fine on the bike. I've read that the new RT's no longer have continental tyres fitted as standard now... Can you update on this as I  noticed a new RT at Hawes rece...

Re: Nav V and Interphone F3MC

Will the autocom work ok with the IPhone 6? I have all my music, Tom Tom on it & like to be able to accept calls when I use the bike for work. That's a very interesting option at that price. Especially if fitted! My Bluetoothe intercom has always worked fine rider to pillion- never a problem, i ...

Re: Nav V and Interphone F3MC

The only issues I've had with my interphone 3 is the bluetoothe splitter. It works fine in that it can send music & satnav to both headsets but I can never remember the sequence of how the multi function buttons work without referring to the manual!  Apparently the later models have a b...

Re: Near misses

Well re lessons to be learnt, I always ride with the believe that all other road users probably will pullout, change lanes etc. without looking, and consequently I ride in anticipation of this. It's kept me upright for 30 yrs. In this case I should perhaps have given extra thought to the exceptional...

Re: Near misses

I can put my mascara on when driving no problem... admittedly it's more difficult when I'm on the bike.

Re: MICHELIN Pilot Road 4 GT

I use my IPhone 6 with satnav app. I used the copilot app in the way there & bought the Tom Tom satnav app before I returned (the copilot failed to recognise a few junctions so I decided to try Tom Tom). I can't see any record of the journeys on these apps. I would have liked that:-( There will ...

Re: What have you got planned for 2015?

That's a fair few miles to click up over 7-8 days. I did about 1100 & odd during our trip. We tend to stool off now for 2 nights in each place to enjoy the towns more. I once did 1900 miles in 6 days on a BMW F800st, which included a single run from Djon to Stockton on tees. What a stupid idea t...

Re: MICHELIN Pilot Road 4 GT

I joke not, 135mph several times on the speedo. 140mph at best- didn't check the nav for obvious reasons, but 2 up and full luggage (no tank bag, no rack on top box, just panniers & BMW 49ltr box, screen 2/3rds way up. I'm 13 & half stone, wife just under 9). The nav at other speeds was all ...

Near misses

Whilst in Rotheberg, I was just approaching a set of traffic lights (on green) along a line of stationary traffic, when a police car of all things decide to pull out into my lane. Full on emergency stop, two up on a bend at about 30mph. Instinctively I sat the bike up to brake but missed this police...

Re: MICHELIN Pilot Road 4 GT

Once again in I got caught in a storm on the autobahn. The traffic just stopped it was that bad. By the time I needled my way over to the hard shoulder, which was also full of stationary traffic, we were both soaked through to the bone, before we got chance to put the waterproofs on. The good news i...

Re: What have you got planned for 2015?

Well, the trip started off ok despite the thunderstorm near Koblenz that resulted in all the traffic stopping in the autobahn... Had a great time riding south down the romantische Strasse. However when we arrived at our hotel in Heidelberge I received some very upsetting news from home which resulte...

Re: What have you got planned for 2015?

Off to Germany tmw! Hull ferry overnight to Rotterdam then straight to St. Goer (Sankt Goar) near Koblenz on the Rhine for lunch before heading to our first destination 'Wurzburge' at the top of the romantic road. Haven't booked the rest of the places yet as we like to have the freedom of doing what...

Re: Thank you

It seems incredible that the flagship bike with such an impressive 6 cylinder motor can be let down with things like a poor drivetrain & box. What happened here- did they run out of funds on this project or put the apprentice engineers on it? BMW must have known it wasn't right. But they seem to...
