Re: iPhones sat nav set up
Levisp highlighted a good point about the maps being downloaded to the device- it's much quicker this way. Those that need Internet access to down load the map before the gps satellites can locate you, can be very slow, especially if you don't have 4G. The downside to having all the maps installed h...

Re: iPhones sat nav set up
Re autocom, they're very popular & I'm sure they are fine. At the time I bought mine, I believed the Interphone to be the best for the money that did everything I needed. I also tested a few out. I was particularly impressed with the clarity, quality of sound and simplicity of use with the Inter...

Re: iPhones sat nav set up
Yes- the accessory socket. I think Dayglodavid posted a photo or a link to the adaptor needed. It basically just plugs into the socket on the bike & has a USB socket so you can use your own charge lead. I'll put the photos on- the intercom looks much bigger on the photo then it actually is. The ...

Re: iPhones sat nav set up
I've used my iPhone for the past 6 years as my satnav. On previous RT's I just bought a waterproof cycle mount/case & attached it to the standard RT bracket that curves across the top of the dash near the screen. I powered it with a simple adapter plug from the power take off. Using the satnav w...

Re: Bike Dead for 6 hours - help
Steve, I contacted Alan Jeffries, who promised to ring me back- but didn't. I called Williams at Manchester, but was unable to speak to a mechanic, just a Service Adviser. I explained the details as you described but the best advice I was given was 'we'd have to plug it in and see what comes up'. I ...

Re: Spot lights
Well as my Ebony Black has been described as brown, it had better be the fastest thing on the road!! Regarding the screens, I agree that rider size etc. will have influence, but in terms of performance against the wind etc.- I feel safe in the knowledge that the standard screen is going to behave it...

Re: Spot lights
I would want them on all the time to improve my visibility to others. I would only fit them if this was possible. Aestheticly I think they add to the looks of the bike, but they are very visual on the road.

Re: Spot lights
To be honest Spencer, I don't think your going to improve much on the standard RT screen. There's bound to be a pay-off somewhere be it with buffeting or high speed wobbles. I really can't see screen manufactures investing anywhere near the time & money on wind tunnel testing as motorrad.

Re: Sticky strings
just in case some members doubt the effectiveness of the sticky strings for tubeless tyre puncture repairs, I actually found myself with a flat on my Range Rover this week. Out of curiosity more than anything else, I thought I'd see if these sticky's work. I found an inch long self tapper ...

Re: Cruise control
I only use mine on the Motorways/autobahns from Rotterdam to Heidleberg. However, on my last RT the cruise kept tripping out as soon as I engaged it. I wasn't sure wether it was a fault or wether it just wasn't supposed to be used at very high autobahn speeds. (130-135mph). It is useful, especially ...

Re: Bike Dead for 6 hours - help
Have you considered the immobiliser? Whilst in France 4/5 years ago my mate & I pulled into a service station. Filled up with fuel, and after which his bike wouldn't start. We pushed it to the side and whilst considering what could be wrong, another biker pulled up, and his bike wouldn't start e...

Re: Corrosion
I do use my bike for work- both to and from and to various hospitals for meetings etc. in the region. However, I gave up using bikes in the winter 2 years ago, not because of the potential damage to the bike, but more so for safety/comfort. In fact now I avoid going out even if it's just wet so my b...

Re: Corrosion
Do you use your bikes through the winter RTman? I ran a new F800st through 2 winters a few years back and there was virtually no paint left on the engine! I washed it regularly but didn't treat it with anything. My 2010 RT TC suffered terrible too, the engine fins, from cover, final drive unit &...
