Re: DataTag Found

They're much easier to photograph under a UV light. As recommended by Datatag themselves. Indeed, the latest datatag stencils , if applied with care are virtually invisible and now designed to be viewed with a UV light. Just a fiver or so discount on the insurance, but as it was free with the bike,...

Re: Keyless gas cap won't open and/or close

Not true. Engine from the GS, frame adapted from the GS. Fairing adapted from the ugly tree.
Maybe it will get the ABS pro from the GS next year  :)

Re: Keyless gas cap won't open and/or close

And when you want to activate the central locking or set the alarm you have the fun of finding the thing round you next and pressing the wrong end 3 times to make it work. Fod attached to key , attached to steering lock, much better idea. Ah, keyless is on my GS not an RT. No alarm, no central lock...

Re: Keyless gas cap won't open and/or close

Removing the front 2 torx screws on the fuel filler ring will allow you to open the filler cap in an emergency. The torx tool is in the tool kit. I wasn't keen on keyless, but actually really like it now.  I'm always mislaying my bike keys whilst touring and can often be seen patting down a...

Re: Looking for a used R1200RT in the UK

A bit of haggling on this one maybe? The bodywork looks nice, not a silly amount of miles and non-servo :-) http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201607095698033?search-target=usedbikes&make=bmw&model=r1200rt&postcode=ct102rh&searchcontext=default&radius=1501&page=2&a...

R1200RT 2005-13 Genuine BMW heated comfort seat for sale. Now Sold

Now sold, thanks for all the interest. BMW comfort seat for the RT1200 oil heads. Great condition, a doddle to fit, and vastly more comfortable than the stock two piece setup. I really don't want to post this due to its size and the cost of doing so, but I will if I have to. Price: £175 collected. ...

Comfort seat, top box etc available for pre LC RT. I bought an LC!!

Well, today I finally succumbed and bought an LC. As a result I will have some nice parts for sale from my 2011 at good prices to anyone on here. :) I will list them in the classified and give anyone here a few weeks before I go to eBay. Sadly, I didn't go for the RT and instead went for the Triple...

Re: Older RT'S

Hi Tango, One thing to look out for on the RT is a slipping clutch. Although not difficult, it's a lot of work to replace it and if you have to pay someone else to do the job, it's going to be a few hundred quid plus parts. Easy to check for by having it in a higher than needed gear and cracking the...

Re: Looking for an RT

I would avoid the servo. They don't all go wrong, but when they do you are left with residual braking. The later the model, the better it is generally.

Re: Older RT'S

I ran a 1100RT for some time. Pretty easy to look after, good old fashioned screw and locknut valve adjustment, no water cooling etc. The fuel injection is very reliable, just a simple throttle body balance which is pretty much the same as syncing a pair of carbs. The ABS is reliable, and even if it...

Re: All new RT for 2017?

I would think not. Since 1996 the RT has gone 1100,1150 and 1200. Power 90, 95, 100, 110 and now 125. To jump up 30 bhp seems too much and as the engine is only 3 years old much too soon. I hope your right, I moved to BMW many years ago from a Honda Fireplace in an attempt to 'slow down' and enjoy ...

Re: All new RT for 2017?

The RT has always followed the GS , so I'm sure it will be getting the new engine as well. In a way it's a pitty, as the first 1200RT had a nice evolutionary model run for nearly 9 years. This will make the current RT 'old hat's in half the time. I test rode a GS WC the other day, lovely engine and ...
