Removing the front shock R1200RT?

Replacing the shocks my 2014 GSA wasn't difficult, just time consuming.  The result was so good that I decided to upgrade shocks on my 2018 RT, which replaced the GSA. The rear one was easy enough.  The front, on the other hand... I've peeled just about everything off the front end...

Lift handle - Wunderlich - R1200RT-LC

Although used, all parts are present, and the handle is in really good condition. Definitely makes life easier as the RT is no lightweight! Re: Russell vs Sargent - overall comfort, shoulder pain & distance to bars?

Yes I'm fully aware of tunnels and ferries etc, having been lucky enough to have had many trips around Europe (mostly originating from Aberdeen), the longest trip being 14 weeks.  And yes, you can rack up significant mileage. Where I live, mileage tends to be quite high for an average day ...

Re: Russell vs Sargent - overall comfort, shoulder pain & distance to bars?

Appreciate the reply but you're right - at 5-8 and on a stock seat there's not a lot of relevance.  The issue has nothing whatever to do with butt pressure. I've noticed people in Britain - which included me long ago - don't seem to go much for aftermarket seats anyway.  I suspect ...

Russell vs Sargent - overall comfort, shoulder pain & distance to bars?

I know and understand that a large number of people swear by Russell seats but there's also quite a contingent out there with Sargent seats. Currently, I have a Russell on my 2018RT, along with Wunderlich risers.  The made-to-order seat is comfortable (although not nearly so much as an old ...

Re: 500+ mile days.

It all depends on where you live. Unhappily he died a few years ago, but my riding buddy at the time lived about 90 miles dull miles from here, so we'd meet at his house for breakfast, head out for about 300 miles of great back roads, then 90 dull miles back.  Once you get used to it, 500 m...

Re: Dual camera system - any recommendations

Thinkware M1 installed, but not tested yet on R1200RT. Easy installation: 1. Main unit under the seat 2. Connect front cam to main unit 3. Connect rear cam to main unit 4. Connect main unit to switched power source (Centech in my case) Done. Pictures here:  https://advrider.com/f/threads/i-...

Re: Pivoting your bike around on its side-stand

For moving your bike around the garage, its hard to do better than these things: https://www.dynamotousa.com/ . My garage is a "little" cramped and I need all the extra space I can get.  This allows me to both turn the bike around very easily but more usefully positioning it exact...

Re: Spare Key Cutting

I bought my top box used and re-keyed the lock myself after watching the youtube videos. I followed the re-keying process in this one: https://www.mototrip-tours.com/blog/workshop/rekeying-bmw-case-locks/ The wafers are inexpensive and the process easy, once you get the hang of it.  Hope th...

Re: Annoying things about the R1200/1250RT LC - what are yours?

I can totally understand that point of view for many owners, particularly those who have had previous models. But, for me, this bike is the culmination of working hard and saving hard. I don't want the bike to be like my car; I want a more visceral experience. I don't care about any foibles or ergo...

Thinkware M1 - expensive but might be worth it?

Have just ordered the Thinkware M1 - for some reason it is $150 less at B&H Photo than anywhere else I've seen. At $349 it is definitely at the top of the price range for these things but seems to offer some really nice features, especially image stabilization and improved night vision.&nbsp...

Re: Cylinder head guards or crashbars

You'll need Head Guards with those type of bars, The bars are too weak with only 3 points of contact, they need a brace at the rear to the frame to stop them bending in on contact with the floor. don't ask how I know lol. [attachimg=1] The good news with those crash bars (if they are the same mater...

Re: Annoying things about the R1200/1250RT LC - what are yours?

You must be joking! I've spent years on £1,000 bikes, strapped together with cable ties and gaffer tape. If I find a gripe with this bike, I know I've become too comfortable in old age! With all due respect you, that is perhaps the entire point.  The RT is a not an Econo-bike but a premium...

Re: Annoying things about the R1200/1250RT LC - what are yours?

I second every item on Bandytales' list, and would add: • Better storage for small items - it's a huge bike, yet so little space to stash things • Better controls for the GPS.  The GSA is outstanding in this respect; relatively speaking the RT an utter disgrace.  The RT interface w...
