Re: Faulty Video Codec

You shouldn't have any problems with reading the video from a Drift Ghost S - that's what I use, and I also use VLC. Are you remembering to re-format the SD card on a regular basis? I find that most issues with video are a result of corrupted files, rather than anything else. Beyond that you would n...

Re: Over the Cat and Fiddle

Nice video, looked like a nasty slide. Do you have any idea what caused it? Was it something on the road or just excessive water. What tyres do you use? I had a similar experience recently on a small country road in Snowdonia when I came round a corner and ran over a cowpat which caused the front t...

Re: 2016 Rt - Givi V56 Maxia 4 Top Box Installed

I have this one on my RT (https://www.givi.co.uk/cases/Monokey/TRK52N%20TREKKER). It's not exactly an ideal fit for the RT but as I already had it (bought for my GS) it didn't make a lot of sense to pay to swap it. The look doesn't bother me but I'm sure it will put a few people off.

Re: 2016 Rt - Givi V56 Maxia 4 Top Box Installed

Givi do a dedicated mounting plate for the LC RT. It's metal rather than the cheaper plastic ones so when the box is off the bike it's not all that noticeable. Expensive, but looks nice. Search Givi SRA5113.

Re: Over the Cat and Fiddle

For those who are interested below is the video from Monday's trip - the first segment is me almost high-siding on one of the tighter bends of the Cat & Fiddle. Definitely not something I want to do again!

Re: Do I need tank protectors?

I fitted the clear tank protector kit from Nippy Normans when I bought my RT in December. 9 months on the plastic is a bit scuffed, which leads me to think I have protected my paintwork somewhat - but it might just be that the plastic scuffs more easily. What is definitely useful are the clear prote...

Re: Over the Cat and Fiddle

Paggers did you use rain mode, as I have never had reason to use it yet and wondered if is useful or not? I did not use rain mode, although in hindsight perhaps I should have. I use the mode a lot more in the winter, I guess this was the first really bad day I have ridden in for a few months so my ...

The offside rule

A few months ago there was a discussion (sorry, can't remember the thread) about the 'offsiding' rules for IAM and RoSPA. This is in the context of intentionally riding on the wrong side of the road to achieve improved forward visibility around bends. IAM RoadSmart have recently changed their guidan...

Re: Over the Cat and Fiddle

I went over to Nottingham yesterday, following the scenic route which includes the Cat & Fiddle. What a difference a day makes, it was raining with water running across the road. I had the unpleasant experience of the bike letting go mid-corner on one of the tight bends - fortunately it gripped ...

Re: How many RT LC owners actually have problems / issues?

Thanks all for your replies. I will raise that with my dealer. I wonder with what they'll come up for an answer, got a feeling that they'll try not to do anything about it. If that's the case then see if there is another dealer within striking distance. I have two I can get to - one sold me my firs...

Over the Cat and Fiddle

Casual ride today up the Cat and Fiddle with another rider on an '05 GS. Video below shows the section from Macclesfield to the Cat and Fiddle pub. Weather was a bit dull but it was a good ride - continued on to Buxton then back via High Peak and Whaley Bridge. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3_3ZUC...

Welcome to the forum. I'm sure you will be very happy with your new bike - it must feel pretty different after the V-Strom.

Re: ESA error on a 2016 R1200RT

Have you tried changing the settings on the ESA? I had a similar issue with my '13 GS. The fault would come back when I tried to adjust the suspension preload - it was diagnosed as a failed motor and the whole unit had to be replaced (fortunately under warranty). Apparently it's the most common fail...

Re: Options for fitting non-BMW lights to an LC

Thanks folks. I hadn't considered just buying the BMW brackets - that's probably the sensible move. Having said that, depending on the price, I may just fit a set of engine bars and mounts the lights off those.

Options for fitting non-BMW lights to an LC

I'm considering fitting some spot lights onto my RT and running them from an EzCan. The electronics side seems pretty straight forward but I'm wondering how to mount the spots. All the videos I have seem involve mounting the lights on engine bars which I don't have. Has anyone fitted spots to an LC ...
