ABS red warning light coming on intermittently

Just on a 1200km ride over two days. I have had the ABS light come on three times today (never happened before today) When it comes on the cruise control drops out... Very annoying! If I stop the bike and restart it then it runs again no problem for an hour or two. After it comes on I can't detect a...

Re: Bluetooth earbuds linked to audio system

Yes, Apple produces both proprietry USB & Bluetooth systems that are unlikely to work with other brands.

Re: Bluetooth earbuds linked to audio system

I connect to my phone as it has music, phone calls and gps speed & maps... And if you are wearing earbuds that fit correctly then altering volume shouldn't be as big a consideration as when using bt speaker systems in-helmet. It'd be great if we had use of the left-side cluster control but that ...

Re: 2011 Camhead - clunky gear changes

I had assumed that a motorcycle employing a single-plate dry clutch running at crankshaft speed powering a shaft final drive would have a synchro gearbox too, like a car... After reading the manual it appears this isn't the case. Now I see why BMW gearboxes are more 'agricultural'. From memory Japan...

Re: 2011 Camhead - clunky gear changes

So clunking gear changes are definitely abnormal then... The guys with wetheads seem to have this issue which is normal for them.

Re: 2011 Camhead - clunky gear changes

It always goes into gear... It's just that there's a clunk as it goes into gear. It seems quite agricultural compared to the refined smoothness of Japanese gearboxes. If it's normal then I'll just be gentle on the shifts as I have been since I purchased the bike. It has done about 4500 kms in the la...

Re: 2011 R1200RT Workshop Service Manual

Well it arrived... Pretty reasonable quality compared to the reviews I've read. Apparently it is no longer in "Full" colour ;)
I don't know what has happened to the photo... It is fine this end.

2011 Camhead - clunky gear changes

2011 camhead - dry clutch. Gear change from N to 1st, 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd are "clunky". The bike doesn't creep when revved in gear with clutch in so I am guessing it won't be oil contaminating the clutch plate. I'm thinking the synchros on those gears have been abused? It's only done...

Re: new located near DC

I wanted to replace the incandescent brake/tail bulbs on my 2011 camhead with LED's but can't due to the system producing an error as the power drain of LED's is less. I find the CANBUS implementation seriously inflexible and many aspects of computerisation on bikes in general, problematic. Just be ...

1400kms Toowoomba to Townsville, Queensland.

I started off at daybreak and made good time along the Warrego highway to Dalby where I turned north to Jandowae. The road eventually turned from a dual-lane highway to a single lane bitumen road in scrubland. I chanced apon a road train travelling the opposite direction. Those guys certainly get up...

Does anyone know if there's a way to turn off the checking of bulbs in the firmware?

Re: Metzler Roadtech 1

I live in far north Queensland and it's the end of Spring. This means the bitumen in the asphalt is beginning to melt during hours of 10am to 3pm. About a half hour into riding my tyre pressures are 34-35F and 42R. If I run them any higher the tread will disappear too quickly as hot roads are nasty ...

Re: Metzler Roadtech 1

I will stick with the heavy duty tyres as I pack the bike with 12.5kg per pannier and 5kg in top box with a backpack of up to 20kg strapped to the pillion seat.the tyres are inflated to 34F & 39R. It rides very well and is a hoot on large roundabouts ;)

Re: 2011 R1200RT Workshop Service Manual

Since Clymer no longer seems to exist, Haynes may be the only option left. Ordered, we'll see if it is up to par soon.
