Re: <!> symbol, Oil level, burning oil?

I purchased my 05 with 12k on it. I see the warning come on frequently due to an over sensitive sensor that can be remedied by the dealer. I have made it a habit to check the sight glass every 300 - 500 miles religiously. I top it off when the glass shows 1/2 full or le...

Re: Is this R1200RT the right bike for me? Need advice.

Hello, I am 5'8" and am also vertically challenged as well. My RT is a '05 and I put 74K miles on since 2007. I have owned several cruisers (including a Honda '96 Magna), and also an LT. I love my RT. But, it has ended up on its side a number of times for...

Re: R1200RT 2014 VS 2017

This may or may not be what you want to hear, and it is only one story regarding the '14RT. My close friend purchased one in '14 and had a number of problems with his bike. Most were related to final drive, electronics. It spent more time in the shop than out ...

Re: Cant drop final drive

That is alway trickey for me. I have the same problem most of the time also. Sure would have been better if they had never thought the oil never needs to be changes and just put the fill plug where it should be with the rest of the models later on.

Re: <!> symbol, Oil level, burning oil?

I seriously doubt you have an issue at all. These bikes are known for using oil. I have an '05 with almost 73K on the clock. I frequently add oil. I believe the indicator comes on prematurely. If you are half way down the sight glass, you are looking...

Re: Harley Sold, Gone, Now What??

I have owned an '05 RT since '08. Have put 61,000 miles on it and absolutely love it. I am afraid to ride a newer LC RT. I am afraid that I would want one. I have ridden your old bike and the road kings, softtails, hard tails, etc. There is...

Re: Is this RT worth considering?

Since I am in the US., that equates to approx. 104K. I think that price is a bit on the top end of the spectrum. If it has every option mentioned, that includes ESA suspension. That is a pricey option to go bad as well. Also, check out the starter (potential r...

Have you tried to go back to the original seat to see if it goes back to normal behavior? It may just be a coincidence .

Re: Slipping out of gear

What type of motor oil do you have in the RT?? I have seen this before on motorcycles that are using motor oil that are out of spec.

It might actually be your foot riding the foot brake without you knowing it.. Sometimes that happens to me. ;)

Re: Gap under the seat?

I don't see what the problem is. It is a functional adjustment. It works. Having versatility often requires trade offs. Every time you think about it, get on the bike and twist the throttle. I bet you will forget all about it in no time. Sent from my...

Re: Inaccurate Cruise Control

I use my cruise on the 05 frequently. You could reset the computer and see if that helps. I once had a slight problem and that fixed it.

Re: Hello from a noob with a question,,, big surprise I know.

Hello, incorrect tire pressure could also contribute to the cupping as well. Add the weight of the bike, and there you have it. I have found that I have far fewer problems with tire wear when I inflate my tires to 42 lbs front and rear.
