Re: Cylinder head protection

I found the BMW covers were good when my 1200LC laid down for a rest.  As mentioned above, like most drops this was stationary in a car park.  Just a scuff on the black plastic insert.

Jumped the other way

For a good while I'd been thinking about how to persuade my better half that updating the 16MY 1200 to a new 1250 was actually a pretty smart move.  After much thought I failed.  Then, last week, on impulse, I went for a test ride on a Royal Enfield Interceptor 650.  What ...

Lucky escape Jack!  Glad you are okay and hope the bike is not too badly damaged.

Back to sticky labels on the speedo though.  Send Motorrad a picture of said stickies on your expensive bike, might shame them in to doing something.  No.... don't be daft they never listen.

As Bandytales says - walk away.  Sounds like you would be buying trouble.

Re: Issue with Alarm going off without reason.

The alarm has gone off twice to my knowledge (i.e. when I've been here and heard it) on my new 1250 whilst it is sitting in the garage minding its own business, and with a perfectly dry under seat area. Having regard to the size of the spider that must be causing this I'm reluctant to investigate f...

Re: Surging, Fuel Starvation, 2006 R1200RT

When this happens after a few miles, I'd usually say open the fuel cap and if there's any sign of vacuum (you can usually here it as the air rushes into the tank) then it is the breather.  You may already be past this stage, but you never know.....

Re: Six years in and still hanging onto it.

The Hilltop option looks good.  Is that something you would need to declare as a mod on your insurance.  Sorry to spoil the fun - knew a guy who had a problem with an insurance claim on a 'chipped' car a few years back

Re: First Time BMW Owner

Yep the RT is a great bike.  Not really a fan of chucking every gizmo and farkle I can find at the bike though, I bought the bike because it does what I want.  Here's my short list of what has been added: Werks quiet ride screen (excellent) Front fender extender Headlight protector...

Thanks for the heads up.  Just checked mine.... phew!  DVLA lost one our sons' licence a few years back.  Right old kerfuffle, but eventually they 'found' it.

My 2016 does not have the speakers behind the grilles anyway.  Just loads of space.

Hmmm, tend to agree with Casbar's comment further up this thread - sounds like you may have a dodgy earth somewhere.

Annoying things about the R1200/1250RT LC - what are yours?

Just a bit of Sunday fun, but what are the things about the marvellous RT LC (it is a brilliant bike) that annoy you. Those stupid things that indicate the design boys and girls in Bavaria clocked off early that day. Mine are: Sat nav not part of the central locking (rectified by shelling out for th...
