Re: Essential Kit List

Why do you carry spare bulbs only in Germany? I was given the original Essential Kit list prior to our first trip to Germany in 2007, haven't bothered to edit it, now carry the spare bulbs all the time. Why the breathalyzer? We went to France in 2012, at the time, it was a legal requirement to carr...

Re: Essential Kit List

Yes, it looks like BMW have got it wrong, this Parts Catalogue is also quoting 8 kg or 17.5 lbs for the old top case. http://www.bmwetk.info/parts-catalog/prdm/BMW/VT/M/K26/ohne/R%201200%20RT%2010%20(0430,0440)/USA/2008/70/52026/77/77_0128 Perhaps a call to a local friendly BMW Parts Dept. will clar...

"Regarding the large top cases, the 2013 and earlier cases fit just fine on 2014 and 2015 RTs (one is shown below left), at $832 MSRP are about half the cost ($1,585 MSRP) of a 2014 or 2015 case, and are lighter."

Re: taller wind screen for rt?

Have tried a couple of CEE Baileys screens on both my 2007 & 2010 RT's. Yes, they will help to reduce buffeting & wind noise etc., however, the increased surface area & therefore force on the screen can potentially cause problems with the mounting brackets & electric motor. I found ...

Probably so they can smoke a pipe whilst riding along.

10/10, Good observational skills, the two RT's do have different screens, standard on the Twin Cam (black), the other aftermarket (larger) on the grey Bike.

Re: Weather protection

No extras on the work RT with no similar issues. Do the Boxes save the crap or is it the design of the body panels & rear foot peg brackets. Don't know to be fair. There's obviously some vortex/swirl effect from the rear wheel but as yet I've not had chance to run with my panniers on (shed door...
