at least it broke down on my driveway....
well, reliability huh.. not. went out today , all fine, got back on my driveway, and upon restarting she decided one cyclinder was good enough.. Cylinder 1 , left when sitting on the bike I presume, has a duff coil . not quite done 14k .. not brilliant bmw... I have heard of grease being applied to ...

Re: Bmw 28L top case ?
If I was to ride solo then the 28litre box would still be on the bike. It did not look out of place with the normal large side panniers. The dealer selling my bike had his "mate" a locksmith, to get the lid open as the mechanism had jammed. He made it worse, so when I picked the bike up, t...

Re: Bmw 28L top case ?
I sold my 28l box for £150. In really nice condition with a new lock and barrel. The back rest was perfect. Perhaps it was too cheap.
Buyer was really happy though..

Re: Bmw 28L top case ?
I had a 28 litre box and my Nolan n104 fitted in just fine. Wife wanted the bigger 49l , bigger back rest plus more room for female parafernalia...

Re: Noise from front end
Thanks SAKM. My first time with this type of disc. Wonder how many others have been caught out with this, thinking the worst. What is the reason for the" floating " disc? The brakes still astonish me, so little effort for a lot of braking power. At some point I will take the bike to either...

Re: Noise from front end
I have noticed that when I move the bike around the garage, there is a clunk from the front when I grab the front brake and push the bike forward. At first I thought it was the pads moving in the calipers, but it does it when the brakes are locked on. Due to not having "normal" forks, how ...

Re: Noise from front end
The road surface did not change and the noise disappeared when I pulled the clutch and coasted the motor. It comes from the clutch area , the difference in noise levels is really noticeable. I may end up taking the bike to Pidcocks BMW in the east midlands to ask them if my bike is due a recall for ...

Noise from front end
My 2015 r1200rt is a joy to ride, but lately there is a really harsh level of noise from the front end. This generally happens above 60mph. The noise is really obvious when leaning over the front of the bike. The normal amount of noise whilst riding is acceptable, obviously the fairing can amplify s...

Re: Hill Start Control
I recently read, like sakm states, if you operate the hill start assist system, then slip the clutch to hold your position , the hill start assist will release and you can power off smoothly . Having succeeded on a few medium inclines, albeit with no one behind or in front of me, I am going to perse...

Re: Hill start control issue
If anyone near to me needs access to a gs911, I am willing to let two others use mine to check their pressures.
Message me if you are interested.

Re: Hill start control issue
This is important info , although it is an annoyance for you. At your lower pressure level ,irrespective of the cause, it is possible to suffer loss of "assist". Perhaps it would be prudent for those with the gs911, or to have a dealer check it for you if you do not have access to one, to ...

Re: Hill start control issue
Why did the system not show a fault code for this. At least it would have alerted you prior to finding out when you least expected it.
There is no way I would buy a car with an electronic handbrake for the same reason.
Will be interesting to find the reason why.
How low was your pressure?

Re: Hill start control issue
Hi SAKM First, my brake fluid is new. rear pads are half worn and braking is good on the rear. The resting pressure showed 0.10 and pressure via the pedal, with normal type that would be used was 21.3 Hill start assist resting pressure showed 0.50 , then averaged 15.2 during several attempts. You wo...

Re: Hill start control issue
Twice I have had my hill start function throw a yellow warning , with the system not locking the rear brake. Once on a down slope. and then on my drive which is on a slight incline. Both times the "H" did not come on. As far as I remember, I kept my rear brake on as normal, and it seemed t...

Re: After 3000 miles, am I still in love?
I took a 2013 model out for an hour and it was nice, although the motor was harsher than my wet head during acceleration. One major factor of the wet head for me, was that the clutch had been moved to the front, I also wanted as newer a bike as I could afford. I think when the time comes to downsize...
