Re: IAM Advanced Rider Training - Observed Ride #2

Your comments in relation to being in 'Command' of the road are very pertinent. My grandson has just taken up biking and rides a 125 cc learner bike. I have taken him out on a number of occasions and have spent a lot of time impressing this on him. He felt that as a learner on a low powered bike he ...

Wunderlich Foot peg Lowering Kit for 2014 RT

I have here a Wunderlich riders foot peg lowering kit taken from my 2014 RT LC. They are complete with all parts including the springs which are modified from the original BMW part. The fitting instructions are on the Wunderlich site. They are currently listed at £159. How about £80 posted to UK onl...

Re: Replacing the grips

Yes, but the OP wants smaller grips, not fatter ones. He is also looking for a handsome solution (although I really struggle to see what is ugly about any of the OEM handlebar grips). Appreciated but I was referring to your comment about fitting 'Grip Puppies'. Perhaps I should have made myself cle...

Re: Replacing the grips

Not sure I agree that the 2008 grips are the "largest OD" with an "unappealing look". When I purchased my 2008RT the grips seemed the same size as the one on 2001 RT it replaced. However when I replaced my 2008 with a 2015 RT I found the OEM grips to be too narrow and went strai...

Re: Replacing the grips

If I could have offered you direct assistance I would have. However there was clearly a thread on this subject already running, which I pointed out, there being little point in starting the same subject again. I'm glad you have sorted your issue with the grips and I hope you continue to enjoy the bi...

Is this deja vu or was this discussed at https://1200rt.com/viewtopic.php?p=37864#p37864 ?

Re: IAM Advanced Rider Training - Observed Ride #1

I was taught from square on to be aware of'Engine Sympathy' and to neither over rev or over strain the engine. The motors in these bike have tremendous low down torque and do not need the high revs of a multi-cylinder. Cruising at 55 on an open road in 3rd. just seems contrary to being in sympathy w...

Re: Rear Brakes sticking.

I did mine earlier this week while replacing the pads, it was a doddle really. I just pulled the 2 'R' clips, used a drift to punch the pin out (it goes inwards!) then pushed the pads  down and out. Undo the 2 bolts and lift the caliper off (note where the support clip fits). The two parts ...

Must have corrupted when loaded originally and I didn't notice it.
Back to planning the next ride.

Re: Crashed on black ice

This is why dealers try to sell you GAP insurance when you buy a bike. The Insurers will pay out far less than the replacement value BUT will sell you insurance to cover the gap.

Nice little earner that. >:(

Re: Nav V - strange display

Hello, I have a Nav V with the latest map installed, Europe DEM. Whilst out on a very enjoyable Boxing day ride to Portmadog I noticed that my "track" was not on the road but a considerable distance to one side. Also the map display was weird in that the roads appear to be drawn with stra...

Re: Back2TheBike Training #1 - Biker Down workshop, Saccadic Masking and Safety Mod

To be honest I don't think any one will notice the colour of the tape, the scaffolding bars around the front of the bike will be holding their attention. That looks truly horrendous. I've fitted cylinder head protectors which are discreet, don't spoil the looks of the bike and actually work. :(&...

Re: Knocked off my pride and joy

Nice to see you were so forgiving of the pal that hit you. I was 'arse ended' by the friend I was riding with and it can be difficult to smile and shrug it off, but it does only take a second's lapse of concentration. As said earlier you have to keep sharp all the time on a bike. Best wishes for a s...

Re: Cigarette lighter?

Although I'm an ex-smoker and the thought of smoking on a bike seems a bit off the wall (bit dicey with a loose saddle as well you may end up stubbing the fag out up a nostril) I bet the little lockable box behind the screen would make a great ashtray?  I use mine to store...
