Front storage containers
Does anyone have a rough idea of the internal dimensions, please ?
I assume they're locked along with the rest of the bike, if it has central locking, too ?

Re: Hard shell tank bag
That's the direction I went in the end. I wasn't keen on the utilitarian look, so I opted for a smaller Otterbox ( although it's not much improvement ) and I'm doing exactly what you've suggested. I've already got a locking system for the tankbag, so once I buy the ring mount and attach it...

Love the idea of getting the headers ceramic coated.Gee-Bee wrote: I fitted my complete together and marked with tape, header and joiners were sent for ceramic coating in black

I'll either be local or ride up from Luton/Bedford for the day.

Re: Getting a round in
The biggest advantage of the RT is it's so versatile. You can commute on it, go touring, or sunday rides, it's even not too bad in heavy city traffic, certainly better than the Tiger 955i I used to have. I shall definitely be taking one out again. Thankfully there are loads on the second hand marke...

Re: Getting a round in
like most twins, the RT engine "thumps along". it certainly is not as smooth as a four cylinder engine, but it does have some character I have a Thruxton R, so the whole twin thing ( although they're different twins I grant you ) wasn't the issue as such. I think it was more than I've bee...

Hard shell tank bag
Does anyone make one ? Ideally I'd be looking for something with a similar locking system to my Bags Connection tank bag, where is can be locked to the bike from the inside. I'm looking for something I can leave locked and secured to the bike for short stops, that's waterproof and about 2L in size. ...

Re: Getting a round in
Thanks for all the input and comments so far folks. I will be popping down to Cannon or Wollaston Motorrad when I'm home again in November and dragging SWMBO down for a pillion ride. That will give her a chance to try some of the worst weather we get and whether it'll give her the comfort she needs....

Re: Getting a round in
Personally I think if you wanted a comfortable versatile bike for touring, the RT really can't be beat. It's a little heavy when parking (like all big bikes are),and the BMW servicing/maintenance cost can be pricey (although good independent garages are around),but once you have got that electric s...

Re: Getting a round in
I have given it thorough consideration, but I would like shaft drive again. I do some big tours and chain maintenance isn't something I want to be thinking off.ds99 wrote: you could also look at the Suzuki Vstrom 1000?

Re: Getting a round in
Hi DonVulpes I have a Tiger but since I got my first RT this year (17LC ) I haven't been back on the Tiger since. I've covered more miles on the RT since picking it up than I have on the Tiger in 18months. I love it The RT is perfect for me as the K16 is just to big and bulky. Thankfully I don't fi...

Re: Getting a round in
I've never ridden the GT, as I own an RT, but I think the general consensus online seems to be is the RT is more versatile, lighter, and easier to move around that the GT. The GT has a higher top speed, is more powerful, but it a lot heavier (330kg!) see these links https://www.reddit.com/r/Motorra...
