Re: Poll of Tyre Options - R 1200 RT, K26 (2012)

Certainly here in the UK there would no issues in fitting any Sport Touring tyre that complies to OEM specification with regards to speed and load rating. Not so sure in Germany. You could well be correct, looking at the BMW Tyre Options, they state, "This information is not binding and is bas...

Re: Poll of Tyre Options - R 1200 RT, K26 (2012)

Thanks for the feedback & as in the original post, "I appreciate tyres are also a personal choice". For the reasons given, I'll probably still go with the Metzeler Z8 when it's time to change from the existing, original, Bridgestone Battlax BT 021's. Any more votes, help or comments ar...

Re: Poll of Tyre Options - R 1200 RT, K26 (2012)

The factory over the years have tended to swap from one recommended tyre make to another at random. Its a supply thing, but for some time now they seem to supply more with Z8s. It's interesting that the number of BMW recommended tyre manufacturers for the LC RT is only 3, Continental RA 2GT, Metzel...

Was there any particular reason why you chose the bike with PR4's on over the one with Metzelers, (presumably Z8's).

Re: Poll of Tyre Options - R 1200 RT, K26 (2012)

Michelin Pilot Road 4GT's are currently leading the Poll (38.5%),  could this be because new bikes are being supplied with them or folks are switching manufacturers/makes for some reason.

Re: 2014 Motorrad Touring Tyre Test

Now it will be interesting to see what kind of mileage everyone will be getting with the tires of choice. I hope that as we change tires we can post mileage in a specific  place on the forum such as a poll noting what type of riding, one up or two up, interstate, load weight average and su...

Re: Help on Tyre Options - R 1200 RT, K26 (2012)

Reading the 2014 Motorrad Touring Motorcycle Tyre Test thread, has thrown up another manufacturer, Pirelli.

Pirelli recommend their Angel or Angel GT for a 2005 onwards RT, http://www.pirelli.com/tyres/en-gb/moto ... nt#/search

A thread from UKGSer about 2012 RT Tyres, http://www.ukgser.com/forums/showthread ... 2-RT-tyres.

Avon Tyres recommend either their Storm 2 Ultra or Storm 3D X-M for a 2005 onwards RT, http://www.avon-tyres.co.uk/motorbike/r-1200-rtst.

Re: Check if a vehicle is taxed

Interesting if you look up some vehicles you have previously owned, I found a Honda VFR which was "Written Off" but now back on the road.

Check if a vehicle is taxed

Having removed the Tax Discs from my Vehicles on 1st October 2014, this GOV.UK Vehicle enquiry can be used to check Tax & MOT details, https://www.vehicleenquiry.service.gov.uk/.

Have added a Poll, if there are any Manufacturers/Tread Patterns on your bike not listed, please post them here & they can be added, thanks.
