Re: North Coast 500 (Scotland)

Hi David, would you be willing to share that please?  I can use a BaseCamp route as a good start!  Thanks in advance, Peter

Re: MICHELIN Pilot Road 4 GT

My only comment on the Z8 vs PR4 GTs is the tire life and wear indicators difference.  I got more mileage out of the PR4 GTs on my K1600 than the original Z8, both handled equally well in my view, but the killer is the fact the Z8 showed the steel bands before the wear markers were done.&am...

Re: Think I might have wasted a bunch of money!

Time to push for a goodwill gesture once the bike is back and sorted.......?? Agree completely, I had a new K1600GT two years ago and on the first ride out the start motor jammed on (which was interesting!) bike stranded 50 miles from home.  BMW were good they got the bike back, dealer was...

Re: Inaccurate Cruise Control

Not seen this problem on any of the three BMWs I have had with Cruise control, if it bugs you should have it looked at by the dealer I guess, Peter

Re: USB Stick Question

I *think* the "natural" limit is 32GB as when you go to 64GB/128GB I believe  it has be formatted in exFAT rather than default FAT32.  On a number of cars/MP3 players I had them struggle with 64GB USB stick but never with 32GB, hence this is what I have put 32GB in my RT ...

Re: Pannier bags

+1 for http://www.maneevent.org.uk/bmw.htm, have them on my K1300S and seem well made and a good price...

As for the R1200ET LC luckily panniers are the same size as my last K1600GT so I have just carried over the ones from that bike...

Re: Weather protection vs. a good hug(ger)

Yes that is one I had seen, plus there is an assumption on my part that some of the GS or RS huggers will make their way to the RT in time...  Peter

Weather protection vs. a good hug(ger)

I read the weather protection thread here (https://www.1200rt.com/index.php/topic,1140.90.html) very interesting as I never saw this kit advertise so now I have another option.  Has anyone tried this versus getting a decent rear hugger?  I am wondering if adding the weather protect...

Re: Which Nav Unit??

I have used the "TyreToTravel" http://www.tyretotravel.com/ quite a bit now and think it is good when it comes to sharing routes around.  If you create in TyreToTravel format you can save in both Garmin and TomTom which is handy when you ride with mates who have different makes!&a...

Re: Shell V Power Nitro + fuel

I tend to use the Higher Octane stuff if it's available, but not too fussed if it isn't. RT's have sophisticated Engine Management Systems which adapt themselves to the Octane Rating of the fuel being used. +1 on DaygloDavid comments. When they originally launched higher octane fuels the view was i...

Out of interest does this re-map apply for just one of the riding modes?  I would assume just road or dynamic and not rain?  Peter
