Tank grip pads
Installed these Snake-skin tank grip pads today. Installation was a snap, just a peel and stick adhesive. If it's below 80 degrees, they do suggest warming up the tank/pads with a hair dryer first. I haven't ridden with them yet, they suggest 12 hours to let the adhesiv...

Re: Do I need tank protectors?
I have been riding my 2016 RT through 2 summers now, and about 10K miles without any protection. The tank on both sides still looks great, no scratches or marks of any kind. I think it varies somewhat on the riding gear you use, how abrasive the material is, and whether you have ...

Re: Sticking menu button
I tend to use a skirt of silicon spray. But not sure if that is a good idea, but been okay for a year or so. I have heard different stories regarding the use of silicon with electrical connections. There's been some concerns raised about it actually acting as an insulator and interfering ...

Re: 2015 R1200RT Adding Radio
There will definitely not be speakers installed if your bike doesn't have the audio option. The other consideration is whether the wiring harness has the necessary plug for the radio, and the speakers. If not, it might be quite a trick to get that all installed and then integrate...

Re: Nav 6 question
I have a 2016 with the Nav V, but I haven't seen it, I'll give it a test tonight. All of the information you reference is available on the bike menu, via the wonderwheel, so curious why you would want it on the Nav at all?

Re: FROM AN RT TO AN RT
Welcome back RTMan, sounds like you made the right choice for your needs. I really like the styling of the Spyders, but I'm sticking with my RT as long as I'm still agile enough to handle it (Still in my early 50s!). I will definitely consider the 3-wheeled option at some point d...

Re: Hello
Scotland ❤ Fab place except it rains too much. Maybe hence my choice of the RT and that large protective fairing and windshield😁 Great! I am in Portland, OR. USA, lots of rain here too. If you update your forum profile with your location, you get a nifty little Scotland flag nex...

Designed to encourage you to take it to the dealer$hip and pay them by the hour for such trivial maintenance.LAF wrote: Well if there is anything more of a pain then changing the air filter in a new RT, it is changing the light bulb on it!
The most insanely designed things I have had to touch recently.

Re: K&N Air filter
I just watched a Youtube video on air filter replace on R1200RT LC, and wow, what a colossal pain in the backside. Good video though, this guy is worth following if you like to do your own maintenance.

Re: K&N Air filter
I am running one. I will have my next oil tested and if silicates are higher than the last UOA, I will go back to paper. I have used K&N in every car and bike I have owned over the last 15 years or so with no issues or high silicate readings in the used oil analysis. Thanks for the reply.&n...

K&N Air filter
Anyone tried using the K&N air filter on their RT? I have used them for years in my car with great success. Revzilla has them on sale this month.

Re: water leak !
The blue indicates that it is coolant. On other discussion boards you will find many opinions but the prevailing thought seems to suggest that the small leak will seal itself with time. Altitude seems to be part of the cause. The two dealers that I have spokes with agree that its fairly normal and ...
