Re: Helmets - too good to be true....

I think it was Bell that came up with the advertisement that stated “If you have a $50 head buy a $50 helmet” though I do have a mate who is way better off than me and buys the cheapest helmet he can find… his choice, his life. Your mate might have been reading through the Head Injury Criterion (HI...

Re: Tyres again sorry

I'd choose between standard and heavy duty based on the following:- If I only ever rode solo at speed at around the UK legal limit, I'd feel perfectly secure enough with standard spec tyres. If I planned a European tour riding 2-up, fully laden at 100mph+ on a German Autobahn for 90 minutes, I would...

Re: Triumph front wheel on BMW

Is the speedo drive off the front wheel on the Triumph. ...not to mention the fittings for ABS ring. As David says, if the wheel is really bad, get it straightened or purchase off a breaker such as Motorworks. Do put the new tyres on before you have a whoopsie! Regards, John P.S. What continent are...

Re: How many have you owned?

I've had a R100RS monolever inherited from my father. I didn't get on with it, so it was either give up biking or buy a ...... 2000 BMW R1100RT - second-hand from SPC (now Bahnstormer) in one of the best BMW colours ever - Neon Blue. followed by a new 2005 R1200RT (deposit paid before I had even see...

Re: Zumo 660 cradle, unusual issues advice needed please

So the new to me zumo 660 cradle has been wired into my rtp2014 TC I wonder if this could be the issue?  It all looks like it’s wired in correctly to the bike, yet doesn’t behave? Any experts out there? Thanks You definitely need to post up some pictures of exactly how the SatNav is wired ...

I've been charging the battery directly since 2005.

Probably time I disconnected it.

I was under the impression that the phone did not have to carried in the cubby, but could also be carried in a jacket pocket.

Re: Test rides

The fact other dealers can offer rides to the more mature rider indicates that insurance is available to the dealer, they have therefore chosen for whatever reason to go with a policy with a restrictive covenant, most likely to save some money. I often hear people moan about insurance companies but...

Re: Test rides

What you described here is purely age discrimination, that's is a no no in many countries, especially in the U.S. As long as the person looks strong and able to handle the bike he/she wants to test ride, I don't see why the discrimination just by looking at the DOB column on the DL. Especially if y...

Re: Fuel grade

More info. from BMWMOA, Reg. gas for an RT? (bmwmoa.org) Reply #8 says, "There is NO knock sensor on a wethead motor". If this is the case, that'll be why the engine needs re-programming. BMW say the 1250 Boxer does have a Knock Sensor. It has to because some of the places GS's are ridden...

Re: 2021 R1250RT Battery drain/fail to start

I think the BMW dealer can supply a repair wire to plug into the back of the rear socket.

I have the rear socket wired direct to the battery (via a fuse of course). I can then run tyre inflators etc.  without fear of tripping the Canbus fuse.

Re: Autocom

Recently wanted to purchase a replacement Autocom 2134 Straight headset extension lead. It appears that this lead is "Out of Stock" or "discontinued". Ended up speaking to Tom at Chainspeed and ordering a 2138 Coiled lead. When you phone Autocom, the call is just directed to voi...
