Re: Dash cams

Agree that dash cams can be very useful for proving innocence, or guilt, when accidents occur. That can be a two edged sword! Also, from conversations heard around the traps here, no personal experience with the below, but you might want to take the info on board: In Australia the police have the po...

Re: Displaying speed as kph rather than mph.

I run the digital speedo as well, however, I usually have music playing whilst I'm riding, which overrides the digital readout, and I have come to predominantly use the satnav speed readout. I also find that, if I'm using the satnav, I don't draw my eyes as far away from the road as I do if I'm look...

Re: Menu system missing items under "vehicle" 2016 R1200RT

I think the K1600 and K1200LT have(had?) a courtesy light that shone down on the ground for a short time after you shut the bike down.

Re: Menu system missing items under "vehicle" 2016 R1200RT

I use the quick access button to access trip meter. Then reset the trip meter when I fuel up. I don't trust fuel gauges!

Re: First Time BMW Owner

+1 for the FenderExtender and the Sidestand Foot Enlarger. I'd also suggest using loctite on the foot enlarged screws.

Re: Cylinder head guards or crashbars

I have both engine guards and crash guards. The BMW engine guards to reduce stone chips on the cylinder rocker covers, and Ilium Works crash guards for a (hopefully never) slow speed drop.

Re: Which Sena model to get?

From what I have read about using other than BMW's bluetooth headset it appears that with the Sena the wonderwheel would not control the volumn of the bike's audio going to the headset.  It that true? That is true. Volume on the Sena is controlled by the jog wheel on the 20S unit. If you w...

Hmmmm........about the only place I wouldn't like to be in Aus in June is Canberra. Funny that - the place is full of politicians so it should be warmer, what with all the hot air there! Regardless what month, I'll be out riding!! be

Re: Options for fitting non-BMW lights to an LC

Clearwater do a mirror mounted bracket for their lights. Dunno whether they sell the brackets separately, tho. Have a gander at this link:  https://www.clearwaterlights.com/products/krista-r1200rtw?variant=22170737413 I have a set of Clearwater Krista's mounted on an IliumWorks engine guard...

Re: Harley Sold, Gone, Now What??

Had my MY16 RT for just on 18 months. Currently has 52000 Kms OTC. Only problems I've had were a weeping water pump seal (fixed itself up) and had both front fork seals replaced under warranty. There was a "technical service fix" (not a safety recall) done on my clutch slave cylinder (agai...

Re: How many RT LC owners actually have problems / issues?

Jan 2016 model, 41,000km on the clock at the moment. At 30,000km had to get the weeping left hand fork seal replaced under warranty. At 40,000km right hand fork seal started weeping - also replaced under warranty. Water pump seal weeped until about 7,000km - no discernible fluid drop in the radiator...

Re: Where did you get to in 2016

April 2016: 2000Km's Brisbane to Nabiac to see the Australian Motorcycle Museum (including as many twisty roads as we could find in the time available). October 2016: 6000Km's Brisbane to Phillip Island for the Australian MotoGP (including as many twisty roads as we could find in the time available)...
