To get the thread back on topic: I've had my new R1250RT just over a week now and have had the 600-mile running in service done today. Yep, fair point   regarding the capacity change. Still seems a parallel situation to me though - engine changes and minor panel revisions, but the rest of the bike is the same. Apart from the front calipers!

The 'MU' designation usually refers to the change from the hexhead to the twin cam engine, along with some minor styling changes. I suppose it (MU designation) could equally be applied to describe the change from the original LC to the shiftcam, but doesn't seem to have been adopted in the same way.

My thoughts are similar to gogs01 and Bandytales. Fit new tyres and it's one less thing to worry about. You'll enjoy the riding more on fresh tyres.
