Re: Kevlar Jeans

I have the Klim K Fifty 1 jeans. I like them a lot. They are a comfortable fit but they also make a new K Fifty 2 which is more of a "European" (slim) cut. Heavy duty outer material with excellent and adjustable armor inside. Not cheap... In the US they are close to $300.

+1 I have had the exact same experience. Just bought another set of 01's

Re: Express

No, the update is for the software that allows your device to get updates. So when you connect your Nav V or VI, Garmin Express will normal load and this allows you to check for updates to your devices, register your devices etc. Sorry, you're right. I thought the OP was asking if the express was c...

Re: New to the RT: tips?

I'm 5ft 8 and don't have risers and can ride all day with normal breaks and no issues. Think its a personal thing. Have a look at this web site, you can put in your height etc and alter bar height and compare how it will alter your lean etc. http://cycle-ergo.com The simulator is interesting but no...

Re: Vibration over uneven surfaces - should I be worried?

Have Metzeler addressed this problem with the new 01's tread pattern. 1st 01 rear I had got a puncture after only 3500 miles. I haven't worn down the second yet so can't report that they have addressed the problem. I do like the 01's a lot though. Feel stable, including wet. Looks like tread life s...

Re: Vibration over uneven surfaces - should I be worried?

Truckn, Pay close attention to the wear on the rears also. Those Z8 will look OK, then 300 miles later you'll be showing the belts through the center. Scared the hell out of me when I was on a trip last fall. Had to limp 80 miles to a dealer to have them replaced. I switched to the Roadtec 01's and...

Re: Vibration over uneven surfaces - should I be worried?

The Z8's are notorious for scalloping the front tire and making lots of noise. Especially when even slightly leaned over. Might help to put a little more pressure on them but ultimately the solution will be a different set of tires. There's lots of opinions on tires. Just search this forum and others.

No external mic.  Mount is a cross between RAM and homegrown. Thanks for the picture. I like your set up too. Nice touch with the USB port. The biggest complaint I have with my hero 6 is battery life. Not thrilled about drilling holes in the speaker cover but it looks like a good solution.

Thanks for the pics. I like the set up. Did you drill and tap the bar end yourself or buy it that way?
Went through Zion last fall. Even though it was after Labor Day, it was pretty crowded. I think you lucked out on your ride.

Re: Week 1 on my new R1200RT

Looks like you've mounted the camera on the left handlebar. I like the angle. Can you share a picture of the mounting? Also I noticed very little wind noise. Were you able to filter it out or did you use an external microphone?

Re: Week 1 on my new R1200RT

Unfortunately, riding in or near the middle of the road is a requirement for me.  You see, I have been in 3 deer collisions with the third collision putting me down.  So, I tend to stay near the center line as much as I can to give me the most chance of seeing (and hopefully missi...

I'm not sure he ships overseas but Jim's maintenance videos are very good and cover all standard maintenance procedures.

Re: Bowing out

I've been riding for almost 50 years and I've subscribed to the youtube videos produced by back2thebike because his learning process, done in his methodical manner, is a great way to review my own decision process. I would much prefer to ride with B2B than his critics. He will be safer and more pre...
