You don't even have to press View Map. Once you start moving the GPS will automatically switch over to Map View.

The route should automatically continue once you start moving again.

That's not true in the U.S.  Garmin takes care of the issue themselves.

Maybe sell your Nav 5 and get a 6?

I have been using this setup for over a year on my 2018 R1200RT-LC. Rain or shine. I installed the Motocello Speaker Bridge and mounted the Sena SM10 in the front of the bike on a shelf above the dash. I use a Sena 20S head set. It gives me full control of the BMW audio system from the wonder wheel...

Going from the Nav 5 to the Nav 6 was a worthwhile upgrade for me.

You probably know this, but if you just take the Nav out of the cradle and push off on the screen, the Nav isn't actually off, its in standby and will run the battery down. I like and use it, though the beeps from aircraft and weather advisories can be annoying sometimes. Having the weather and traffic is nice.

The new map update is also available for the Zumo 595 and the BMW Nav 5/6.

It might work, but I guess there's only one way to find out. If it doesn't work you're not out a lot of $$.

The setup definitely helps with the sat radio's audio. You also get full control of the wonder wheel for volume and everything else.  The passenger helmet links to the 2nd Bluetooth channel of the SM10 so "music sharing" is not required.
