Re: BMW Service History
Looking at www.motorrad-warranty.co.uk it does state that proof of servicing plus invoices from the servicing retailer are required, so that on its own means self servicing is basically out. It does seem that maintaining the servicing history correctly enables an extended warranty option and adds va...

Re: BMW Service History
Thanks for your reply David. I agree that having a BMW service history is worth paying out for, at least in a bike of this type and age. There must be a time though when it’s not worth paying the price and doing it yourself. As I’ll try and sell it to a dealer I think I’ll maintain the service histo...

BMW Service History
I’m interested in how important a full BMW Service History is to the value of my bike. For potential buyers is it something you really look for or not? My 1200 LC is now three years old and out of warranty. It has a full service history. I’m thinking of selling it in a year or so. I’m quite handy wi...

Re: 2019 Highlands Tour
Glad it went well and the weather was kind to you. We tried to do a similar trip last year and were hit with horrendous weather that caused us to abandon the trip, plus the midges meant we couldn’t stop without clouds of them descending on us and driving us mad. Obviously we were unlucky but it was ...

Re: Tire pressure monitors - Accuracy
I believe the only way is to take it to a dealer who has the equipment to do it. Might be possible using a GS-911 but I haven’t got one so not sure.

Re: Tire pressure monitors - Accuracy
Sounds like they need calibrating. Mine have always been accurate to within 0.1 of a bar which is pretty good. I always have my dash set to Tyre Px when I’m riding, it’s interesting to see how the pressures vary according to conditions and tyre temperatures. The system has “saved” me a couple of tim...

Re: "brake failure" warning - any ideas?
Could be a number of causes, I’d suggest getting a diagnostic test done to isolate the fault.

The Optimate should be able to recover and recharge it. Wait till it shows two greens and then try it, should be ok [emoji106]

Poor service from some dealers
Standard screen poor (replaced with Wunderlich, much better)
Non lockable sat nav
No right hand storage locker ( just ordered parts to covert)
Difficult access to air filter

Re: Tyre replacement dilemma
Running Roadtec01s on my K1300S as well as RT, first K1300S set OK, second set the front wore unevenly... now trying this +2psi approach on the front, so far looks good. Peter Very similar experience, on second set of Roadtecs on 1200LC, very pleased with performance. Bought fr...

Re: Happy new bike day
Very nice, definitely the best colour. I notice the engine is silver, whereas most 1200’s were black, I think, to make them more corrosion resistant.

Re: Safety on the road
I live near Heathrow Airport and commute daily on a small bike through heavy traffic. The standard of driving here is at an all time low coupled with more traffic than ever (up 77% in a recent survey). Worst of all is the aggressive, arrogant attitude that is now prevalent by most car drivers. Very ...

Re: Rear PowerSocket
Well, the reason is this: If the Hornig pump you have is the AirMan Sparrow Air Pump it lists its current draw as 10A. Admittedly that is the 'max' current draw with the running current being more like 5A. The combined output of the sockets on the bike is 10A, so it all becomes marginal on pump sta...

Re: Rear PowerSocket
You will be right on the margin running that compressor. I think on load it draws around 10A. Still, my point is, these bikes are designed for touring throughout the world and some places are VERY cold and as such, their riders WILL be using significant heated clothing. The sockets SHOULD be man en...

Re: Rear PowerSocket
The plug runs both mine and my wife heated gloves and if I'm on my own, it runs my gloves and heated vest, although since I bought my Rukka suit and a decent base layer I have never used the vest. I also use my socket to plug the optiamte in, so I don't have a fly lead to the battery. But it does s...
