Re: Motorbike rentals in the U.K.
Thanks for the response, exportman, but I'd only resort to shipping my bike from California were I to relocate over there for a lengthy period. Otherwise, it would be wildly more expensive than rentals/buybacks.

Re: Motorbike rentals in the U.K.
David, I'm just now seeing your responses, and thanks very much. I've contacted one or two and await their reply, but most firms don't continue to deepen their discounts above one week, so unless I can find one that does so for my month-long hire, I'll probably be best off repeating my ill-fated buy...

Motorbike rentals in the U.K.
I will be touring throughout the UK this summer, and I was wondering if anybody knew of a reasonable rental agency, or even a rideshare program? The latter is something we have over here, which is apparently legal, where private owners rent their bikes. I do plan to visit France, as well, if that is...

Re: Tested cheap Chinese copy parts
You have inspired me! I think I'll send away for a set of the crash bars myself. On AliExpress, I think I found the same product, with Lookey Store as the seller. Was that your seller, too? I am about to, rather unbelievably, remove the fairing panels and headlight assembly, etc. just to replace a b...

Re: full beam. Why?
I believe that the turn signals flash 14 times before the auto shut off. Suitable for motorways, but not city streets. Also, most of my previous mix of bikes, and all cars, self cancel immediately upon completion of a 90° turn. Around town, the long self canceling feature on my RT may give false sig...

Re: Brake failure light after front tire change
A gross calumny on my part; imponderable but I hope not unpardonable! Next thing you know, I'll neglect to use the Oxford comma! Certainly no way to thank the man who solved my problem.

Re: Brake failure light after front tire change
Dr. T, I see that you’re a don at Cambridge. That makes two dons that have figured in my motorcycle experience: My uncle Don started me on my road to motorbikes. We would visit Britain during the summers occasionally during the 1950s, when his family car was a 1936 600 cc Panther, with a two person ...

Re: full beam. Why?
I only turn on the high beam during the day when passing between cars, or lane sharing as it's called in California (where it is specifically legal!). Given the atrocious driving skills (??) of California drivers, it's a life-saving measure. At night I will only flash the high beams quickly to alert...

Re: Brake failure light after front tire change
Doctor T., It WAS on the wrong side, so I had the tire rotational direction remedied and remounted it properly, and Robert's yer muvva's bruvver - warning light's off. Cheers.

Re: Brake failure light after front tire change
Dr. T, ding ding ding, we have a winner! You are correct, sir! BTW, do not have any compunction about doubting my abilities, as you so kindly put it. I had the tires mounted and balanced by a professional, and took great care to observe the rotational direction, which he had backwards, but absolutel...

Re: Brake failure light after front tire change
Dave, How are you? I only mention the speedo after having reviewed other brake failure posts here, which often referenced it as a cause of the warning light. I confess I am confused as to the location of the speed sensor; if it's on the final Drive unit I'll take a look since I also replaced the rea...

Brake failure light after front tire change
Brakes seem to work fine, the wire on the left side brake unit seems fine. I did displace both units for the tire change, and have never had the brake failure light flashing ever before this. The speedo was working after the change. I have a feeling it's not a coincidence that it only started after ...

Re: Looking at 2016 r1200rt ... handlebar question
I'm not sure how to copy my reply to a prior question, but if you look about five posts up from yours, there's another handlebar question. I responded with a do it yourself modification you might find interesting, if not elegant, that it will give you your desired 5 to 6 inches of rearward movement....

Re: Forum transfer
Sakm. Thanks so much for the update and for taking on this task. I was getting a bit anxious with the lack of new posts, I was beginning to think the worst. As for the technical explanations you offer, I've only just precious my first ever mobile phone, so all that tech stuff goes way over my head, ...

Re: Reducing clutch lever pull force
[size=13px] I found a solution of sorts. Inasmuch as my finger strength seemed better with my wrist bent downward, I just loosened the bolt and rotated the whole assembly downwards. Didn't stall the bike once on a short trip today. Why do the best and simplest ideas always seem to come to ...
