Re: Fresh blood! Considering purchasing an RT

Thanks, having checked my 2012 Bike, it's still on the original Bridgestone BT 021's, only done 3,000 miles.
(The tread pattern does look similar to that in your photo).

It will be interesting to see how they wear.

Re: Nav V

If in doubt about your choice, ring Garmin for Free on 0808 238 0000, at the end of the day, they may hold the keys & be able to help you decide. Having looked at another Forum, this link was posted as a place to buy Garmin from:- http://www.globalgps.co.uk/folder-191-motorcycle-gps Obviously, I...

Re: Nav V

Without the GPS connected to my PC, I can open MapSource & BaseCamp individually & both at the same time with separate windows, there is no cross fertilisation, (am I allowed to say that on here). Yes, MapSource is no longer supported by Garmin, but I can still use it if I want to, then tran...

Re: Nav V

My experience is that yes, when the GPS is connected to the PC (BaseCamp), the PC (BaseCamp) shares the maps from the GPS, agreed. However, if you are working with the PC (BaseCamp) alone, unless you have the same maps installed, you will probably only have the Global (Base) Maps. Having checked my ...

Re: Nav V

If you do update your maps & use BaseCamp on your PC, update both your Device & PC.

Having the same version of maps saves a load of chew.

Re: Nav V

Just remove the two screws, nothing will fall off, the screws go into a captive thread clip, like those which hold the body panels on. When fixing the bracket, make sure that all the holes are lined up & you can see the threaded clip, taking the screen off makes this easier to do. Not too clued ...

Re: Heated SEAT wiring HELP?

Looking at the BMW Rider's Manuals, Haynes Manuals, Parts Lists & having owned both a 2007 (same as 2005) & 2010/2 Bikes, the Handlebar switches are different. On the 2005 Bike, the Handlebar switch & related wiring harness are not individual parts. (The fuel tank needs to be removed &am...

What make/version were the stock tyres, I'd have a guess at Metzeler Z6's.

BMW VIN Decoder

This BMW VIN Decoder, http://www.bmwarchive.org/vin/bmw-vin-decoder.html, can be used to find the "Production Date" of your Bike & any "Optional Equipment" etc. Have run a check on both my 2010 & 2012 Twin Cam Models & coincidentally, they were both registered 23 &...

Re: Stalling issues

Having had a look at this thread on the BMW Luxury Touring site, http://www.bmwlt.com/forums/rt-series/53150-2010-r1200rt-engine-dying.html#post456452, as has already been suggested, checking for any service updates via the VIN No. would be the place to start. In the BMW LT thread, stalling issues (...
