Re: Base Camp vs. Tourstart

I've tried BC... Pfft! I signed up and used MRA since it changed from Tyre. Easier to plan and use than BC Now use Tourstart.org.  For me, the easiest and most simple to plan, use and certainly the most reliable out of the lot. I know if I take a detour with this, it will put me back to MY ...

You'd think so the way the mass gatherings have gone on

Re: What to do now?

Let's just hope and pray that all these cretins that have packed the beaches and the ones having illegal raves and parties haven't cocked it up again and caused a second wave.
Problem being, we won't see any effects of their idiotic behaviour for a couple of weeks probably.

Re: Viewing routes in Google Earth

No idea on the above, but give Tourstart.org a go.  I had it recommended to me by Pete ( Milleplod ) and I found it much easier to use, and for the price it's an absolute bargain. Very similar to GoogleMaps, you just put your start, finish and then drag the route in between to where you wan...

Re: Greeting from a new member

Welcome buddy,

Great choice in motorcycles!
I previously had a FJR too. Great bikes, but I much prefer my 2016 RT LE.
Enjoy the ride back, stay safe, and you'll have many happy miles ahead of you I'm sure

Re: Post-lockdown tour

We were due to go on a 9 day tour of Wales and Scotland including Skye and the NC500+. All booked, all paid for. All hostels confirmed not looking to open until 31st July so cancelled our bookings. We had Travelodges booked for 2 of the nights, they were saver rates so officially no refund but they'...

Re: Route Planning Software - what do you use?

That’s a function of the Nav and not the route planning software. That's weird then, as I've not changed any of the settings on the Nav itself. Exactly the same as when I used MRA and BC, and they both rerouted me straight to the end point (via fastest/shortest route ) when I went wrong. Tourstart ...

Re: Route Planning Software - what do you use?

Ok so I have a Nav6, and last year used Tyre on my PC, did all my route planning, exported in .gpx format, happy days. Tyre no longer uses google maps, shows straight lines to waypoints, and is no longer supported. Changed to myrouteapp.com sort of OK with it but it only shows road names not number...

I`m still awaiting delivery of the bike, its from a dealer, not BMW. It comes with full BMW service history, dealer has agreement taking bolder bikes fro BMW. It has a 3 month warranty.

Unless you do most stuff yourself, may be worth looking at a BMW warranty
