Re: Topcase lock jammed

Just an update... after a good 3 hour tour of B roads :) my lock tumbler became un-jammed.  I was then able to turn the tumbler to the locked position.  After making a little tool from a BBQ skewer, I was able to get the tumbler out.  After understanding how it works, I do...

Re: Topcase lock jammed

So finally got the bike up to BMW in Peterborough.  As the tumbler is in the unlocked position, there is no way to pop the lock out with the special tool.  They suggested that they could take the case apart but that it can take more than an hours labour or that I could take it to a...

Re: Winter Maintenance List

You took your bike out in January in Canada?  I shudder to think too  ;)

Re: Which bluetooth?

I use the Nolan N-Com system.  The early version have a few problems but my current version seems reliable with my Nougat Android phone and the Navigator V.

It works best if you have a Nolan helmet.

@Cornish_Camhead
I plan to move back to 180 tyre in the Spring.  The existing tyre does fit but is fairly tight to the exhaust.  More then anything I think it is too stiff for the suspension.

Re: Topcase lock jammed

So I am back looking at this again.  I have tried using a paper clip but so far no luck.  The key comes in and out fine but I can't turn the lock.  The tumbler is jammed again.  Some things I have read seem to indicate that I need to have the tumbler turned to the...

Re: Anyone seen this before? - missing bolt on oil line

I think it was 50p for the screw and 3.50£ for the shipping.  They apologised about the shipping cost.  I have found them to be helpful every time I call them.  Did a lot of my own work on my old 1150RT so used them quite a bit.

Thanks for all the advice.  I am in Cambridge so Peterborough is my closest dealer.  I will give them a call.

Spain and Portugal

So I am just back from my first long trip with my 2013 cam head.  My wife rides with me so it full two up touring. Took the ferry from Plymouth to Santander on the Pont Aven.  Never seen Brittany Ferries jam so many bikes into such a tight space.  Must have been near 300 b...

Topcase lock jammed

So I just got back from a fair length tour.  The only problem I had was that the topcase lock jammed.  It was fine in the morning and when we arrived in Plymouth for the ferry it wouldn't turn to unlock.  I found a locksmith (on a Sunday  ) who got it un-jam...

Re: Anyone seen this before? - missing bolt on oil line

So I replaced this bolt before my trip and after 3500 km all is well.  Motorworks was able to find me the part and send it to me.

Re: Approved Tyres for 2013 R1200 Anniversary Edition

A light has just gone on.  When I test drove this bike, I was surprised how stiff it felt compared to my 1150RT.  Even on comfort it is harsh compared to my old RT.  This tyre I have now is meant for the K1600.  That said, it looks pretty boss.  ;)&n...

Re: Anyone seen this before? - missing bolt on oil line

My nearest dealer is over an hour a way and they are not open late hours otherwise I would take it there.  It looks like there might have been a screw in there before.  I have ordered a replacement online and I will see how much I have to push the pipe to get it fitted.  I...

Re: Approved Tyres for 2013 R1200 Anniversary Edition

I have put about 1500 miles (2 up and solo) on it since buying it and no problems. No clearance issues.  I am planning to switch to PR 4's after this trip as I ride all season in the UK and liked the PR3's I had on my last RT.  They are really good on wet/cold roads.  The ...

Approved Tyres for 2013 R1200 Anniversary Edition

Is there a BMW link to get the approved tyres for each model year?  I just noticed that the rear tyre on my RT is 190/55/17 ZR (Bridgestone Batltax BT023) not the 180 width that is mentioned in the manual.  It was bought used from someone who bought it as a BMW certified used bike...
