Re: OptiMate 4

I have used the Optimate 4 Canbus for over 8 years. I have two in my garage, one I use in Canbus mode through the din socket, the other I use the battery tail and connect direct.

Not sure if its "better" than any other canbus charger, it just does the job

Re: Exhaust flaps

The GS1300 has a horizontal flap, so maybe that is the answer. The flap is primarily for noise emissions, it doesn't do much else, so if it is stuck open, then there are no issues, except on the 1250 you get an orange warning light. Do a search, there are loads of threads about lubrication and fitti...

Re: Sat-Nav

No the touch screen on the Nav VI is rubbish. They also go wrong a lot, you end up with the screen changing without touching it, it's known as ghosting. Garmin have tried to repair several times and released different updated versions, I had two brand new units go wrong. Now Garmin have just started...

Re: Key Fob Programing to bike

Yes, you can have as many as you want. A new fob from BMW is around £200 (saw on another forum last week)and they programme it. I bought an extra one in 2019 for around £150, but the dealer couldn't get it to work, so I returned it and got my money back.

Re: Denali Auxiliary Light Mounting Brackets

If ACC is a switched live (which it looks like it is), then you could try the aux socket, although this is controlled via the Canbus. Or under the seat at the front is the main connection to the ignition, the orange/blue is a switched live, I use this for my Innov camera.

Re: Denali Auxiliary Light Mounting Brackets

Same for me, use them with a Denali Cansmart, so the one on the side of the indicator goes off when I indicate, I also have mine setup to strobe when I press the horn. I have them set for % daylight, %dipped and full for full beam

Re: Denali Auxiliary Light Mounting Brackets

I have them fitted on my 2019 1250RT and also had them on my 2014 RT. No cutting fairing needed, they just bolt on. I do believe 2021 on bikes need a little shaping under the fairing.

Re: R-1250-RT Differences

Just to clarify, Headers on all the 1250s are the same, but different on the 1200s. Mufflers fit both headers, I have my 1200 Akra on my 2019 1250, which is not an issue. The 2019 1250 although EU5 ready, was homologated as EU4, the same as the 1200s. But I wouldn't have any issue using the same muf...

Re: R-1250-RT Differences

Basically yes. Front fairing is different, headlight, tft instead of clocks and screen. But the rest is the same.

Re: R1300GS

Checking out the UKGSER forum it looks like there may be problems insuring the 1300GS because of the value and popularity of the GS/A for bike thieves. Insurers appear to require trackers being fitted and apparently some dealers are asking potential buyers to ensure they can get ins cover before or...

Depends which crash bars. If they are Illium, no, the fronts are different, the rears are the same.

Re: fog lights

I went the denali D2 spots and a Cansmart. I never use my aux lights (they are aux lights by the way, not fog lights). You can now have the aux lights illuminated with your daylight running lights. If they were actually fog lights, you would not be able to have them on unless your dipped headlight w...

Re: Independent BMW garage in West London

Can't help you with that, but I have also been thinking about independent BMW mechanics. But, as far as I know, they do not have access to the software updates or recalls that BMW dealers do, so at the moment it looks like I will stick to franchised dealers.
