Re: Ordered a new R1250RT today

Did you go for a bike built at the factory? I chose something off their stockist so that I didn't have to wait. Was told that a production line bike would take 8 weeks, I'm going to Spain before then so that didn't work.

Re: BMW Enduroguard/Streetguard

Sorry for the late reply, not long joined the forum. I bought the Enduroguard suit after trying a lot of the alternatives (Rukka, Klim etc). It does feel stiff and unforgiving when off the bike but when riding it's very comfortable. I like the venting options including the inner zipped panel which m...

Re: Ordered a new R1250RT today

Picked mine up yesterday. Took a pic while I was doing the paperwork in the dealership.

Re: Green Card

£12.50. Is that for 15 days cover or longer?

Green Card

Got an email from Hastings today to let me know that I might need a green card to ride abroad after March 28th. They mention that's its only valid for 15 days (but can be extended) and has to be delivered by post rather than email. I'm off to Spain in May so will have to make plans to get one, they ...

Re: Mounting phone using GPS location

What about looking for a second hand Nav V on eBay.  Seen them go for about  £300/350 over here. A more integrated, robust and waterproof solution. What what its worth you can use the twirly wheel on the handle bars to operate it as well.

Re: Nav 6 Battery

My Nav V's the same, fully charged coming out of the cradle then virtually flat after 3 or 4 weeks if not used. Was wondering whether it was a battery memory effect due to being constantly partially charged when in use. However, I don't think that lithium batteries suffer from this. I have read you ...

Re: Back to an RT

Possibly part of the problem is that the bike's not registered with the DVLA till tomorrow so doesn't show up on their database.

Re: Back to an RT

Just rang Hastings Direct to talk about changing the insurance over. Nice lady tells me that she can't give me a price/quote because the 1250 RT's not on their database.

Interesting because it is on the price comparison websites.

Re: Back to an RT

Went to North Oxford BMW to test ride an Adventure thinking that what was what I wanted. Asked to  take the RT out straight afterwards just out of interest and as a comparison. Didn't particularly take to the Adventure on the test, didn't feel too different from my GS. I thought that the we...

Re: 28 litre topbox

Thanks for the replies. Not fussed about central locking, will only use it occasionally for longer trips.

Still waiting for the dealer to give me a call about picking the bike up then I'll price the box up.

28 litre topbox

Does anybody know if the BMW 28 litre topbox will fit the 1250 RT rack? I think it fits the 1200 but don't know if the racks changed on the later version. I assume it can be coded to the bike's key. I'm not keen on the look (or price) of the large box.

Thanks

Back to an RT

Just joined the forum as Ive returned to being an RT owner. Had a long history with them, starting with an R80RT then K75RT before a R1150RT. Then owned a R1200RT but decided to try a few years on a 1200 GS water-cooled. Went for a test ride on a 1250RT last week and put a deposit down, hopefully pi...
