Re: Winter riding!
With you on that. Prefer cold over extreme heat. However I bet you have some lovely clean dry roads with no salt. Roll on summer.

Re: Winter riding!
I think the RT is good when it gets cold so much better than my Multistrada. Heated grips, seat and vest and good wind protection and your good down to 1 or 2 degrees. For me I would not ride without my heated Keiss vest. Best bit of kit I have for winter riding, keeps your core body temp warm which...

Re: Winter riding!
Must admit I've been luck have had a couple of rides per week so far this winter. 200 miles this weekend. Brill. Bought a Rev'it Cyclone Waterproof Jacket - Neon Yellow to wear over my Rukka. High viz and white crash hat makes me look like Plod, get some interesting reactions from car driv...

Re: Battery Chargers
OK I emailed Tecmate who make Optimate and asked them if the lastest BMW R1200RT LC motorcycles were compatible with their charger. This is the reply I got : Hello Peter, We have been forwarded your email as we are TecMate’s UK main distributor. Neither CAN or LIN have any effect on the operation of...

Re: Battery Chargers
I still find it difficult to understand that when a manufacture takes the trouble to produce something like battery chargers, specifically for their bikes, owners want or prefer to use aftermarket kit. Is it just to save a few quid. If 2 products do the same job then...

Re: Battery Chargers
This may or may not help but I'm been using a Optimate 4 on my RT LC for the past 4 months and nothing has blown up yet. I did my own 6K service last week and then got Chandlers of Brighton to plug the bike into their diagnostic equipment to reset service reminder and check for fault codes. None wer...

Re: Tupperware removal, R1200RT LC
Nice one Jim. If you plan to do your own servicing then his DVDs are very good. I have his latest for the LC. For me I was only really interested in the valve clearance check it was worth it just for that. Don't like surprises.

Re: Shell Motorcycle Oil
Still Castrol round here. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. Hopefully they will make a 5W40 oil, supply it in 4 litre containers at a reasonable price. Silly me its BMW probably come in half litre bottles and at a crazy price.

Shell Motorcycle Oil
Understand that BMW Motorcycles are going over to Shell as their OEM oil for 2015. As far as I can see Shell don't at the moment have a 5W40 oil spec required for LC engine bikes, so how is that going to work. Has anybody heard anything. Just curious.

Re: 2014 RT Transmission
Oil for the LC is fully synthetic 5-40 and of course the gearbox is integral with the engine. I would add nothing to it. You will probable find it will get smoother with age. +1 Agree. LC has wet clutch do not add anything to it and only use the correct spec oil. Mine has clock ...
