Re: Maxxis Tyres

I'd be interested to hear any reports on Maxxis tyre experience on the RTLC. I've often wondered about trying a pair myself. but have always chickened out and taken the 'tried and tested' approach of Michelin, Metzeler or Continental. I wonder if we're all missing out on a bargain deal, due to 'tyre...

Re: Optimate 4 - Canbus Circuit

@Gavj - the bike handbook describes the electrical rating 'total for all sockets' as being 10 amps. My Keis heated vest on the highest setting will trip the socket out, hence the separately-wired battery-direct socket. My heated vest is very old model, so I suspect that it isn't as efficient, in ter...

Re: Optimate 4 - Canbus Circuit

I've done this on my last 2 RTs. Using this kit from Nippy Norman (no affiliation, similar kits are available from alternative suppliers :) ): https://www.nippynormans.com/optimate-and-sockets/din-size-socket-kit-12v-5a-including-fuse I've mounted the socket in the triangular panel that covers the r...

Re: Crud Catcher

I've had both versions of the Machine Art Moto fender extender, on R1200RT and R1250RT bikes. The 1250 version, with the scooped-out rear section fits both 1200 and 1250 bikes. The original version fits the R1200RT only. I think it's the best extender on the market currently, but could still be a li...

Re: R1250RT 2020 key fob battery change

Same experience here - I didn't have to change the fob battery in my last bike in the 2 and a half years that I had it. Although I do carry a spare, just in case it's needed. Maybe battery type is important? With my car keys, I've found that Varta or Panasonic batteries last longer than other brands...

Re: STD Seat vs High Seat (2014+)

I have the 'high' seat. I ordered it when I specified my first new RTLC in 2016 and have swapped it from bike to bike onto my new (3rd) RT. It's the same seat base, just thicker padding. I find it very comfortable and the extra legroom is welcome. It is the heated version. I had Touratech Kahedo sea...

Re: Roadside repairs for newer bikes?

I carry a 'Stop n Go' plug kit and an Airman compressor. A few assorted cable ties, electrical tape, spare bulbs and a few spare fuses. Spare key fob battery. Spare valve cores. Tools to remove either wheel, if a puncture cannot be repaired at the roadside and wheel removal for tyre replacement is n...

Re: Insurance Woes

I've also recently (late October) changed from a 2018 R1200RT (factory alarm, but no tracker),  to a new R1250RT, with factory-fit (actually DataTool) tracker. When changing insurance over to the new bike, my premium actually went up by about £100! >:(  I too was hoping for reducti...

Re: Crazy Costs

Just been reading the specs on the new Ducati Multistrada, the basic standard starts at £15,495, if you require the "S" model it comes in at £18,395, this is with "Skyhook" suspension and Stylema Brakes , is it me or why would you have pay an extra £2900 pounds for suspension an...

Bike turntable

A mix-up over ordering and despatch means that I've ended up with two of these: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Centre-Stand-Turntable-40cm-16inch-Bike-Motorbike-Motorcycle-by-EasyTurn/293570369311?hash=item445a28571f:g:JZAAAOSwymxVRTwz It's still in the suppliers unopened packaging. I'd like £40 for it,...

Re: Newbie in North Yorks

Welcome! I've always found that this forum is one of the most friendly and informative. I've just bought a Mineral Grey too! Although, there are no additional driving lights on mine. I was happy to get the colour-matched topbox, but I think it's a bit mean-spirited of BMW not to include the brakeli...
