Re: Navigator vi

Sadly the BMW sat navs are all based on Garmin architecture. Tomtom system is miles better for live traffic and camera alerts. I am seriously thinking about getting rid of mine and replacing with TT, no more basecamp, better fasterer system and no more disappearing down farm tracks.. I am also not s...

Re: Aarrgh, not another burned out headlight

I fitted 3 Cyclops units to my 2009 RT; Once the 2 side panels were off I found the access a lot easier when I took off the wing mirrors and dash surround (8 screws). This gave me enough room to get all 3 units in without ripping myself to bits (I have fairly large hands). It is very important to fi...

Re: Garmin hacked

They have been down since Thursday I think. Not just Express, but everything including e-mail and phone system. Their aviation services where also down, but they have now restored full aviatiob service (just as well, a lot of databases have to be updated every 28 days, and services such as filing of...

Re: Fourth battery in FOB 2016 RT LC since May

I would look at where you are keeping the fob, perhaps one of the buttons is being pressed inadvertently in a pocket etc.

Re: Footpeg lowering.

For anyone doing this to a pre 2010 RT, you can take the whole gear lever off and rotate one spline, it seems to be about right (it worked for me)

Re: Footpeg lowering.

I have fitted these to my bike, it is easy. You are basically moving the footrest and the original pin to the end of the block, then fitting th new pin and using the grubscrew to stop it wobbling. Gear lever adjustment is easiest if you remove the whole lever and rotate around the shaft by one splin...

Re: Drain petrol tank ????

It takes about 15 minutes to remove the LH side cover and get the fuel pump out. Once the pump is out you can get all the way down to the bottom of the tank, be careful not to bash the fuel strip, it is fragile. A tip, if you dont want to suck on a hose to get a siphon started, blow compressed air a...

Re: Top boxes

When riding at certain speeds the back end becomes a little lively sometimes, I have always put this down to the way the airflow sheds over my body down on to the topbox. I am quite big (thus presenting a large obstruction to the airflow) and so there may be quite a lot of turbulent air behind me bo...

Re: Steering lock issues

I dont know about anyone else but I have always found I have to turn the steering away from the endstop slightly to get teh steering look to engage. Perhaps the OP means the steering lock used to work and now doesnt?

Re: Anyone had LED fog lights knocking out radio signal ??

Cheap electronics fire out a lot of RF, and most LED tech come from the far east and is cheap. You need to screen the electronics; you could experiment with introducing a metal plate / foil between the LED power electronics and the antenna (if it is getting in that way) or wrap the whole thing up if...

Re: Heated seat on an LC RT

Though there is a small amount of radiation involved there is no convection. almost all of the heat transfer is by conduction. Radiation is heat directly emitted from a body and does not require a medium to travel through e.g. the heat of the sun or light bulb. Convection is heating of the air (or o...
