Re: Annual meet 2023 Discussion Thread

Tim and I are travelling up on Thursday, staying here on the way up to break the 400 mile ride. If any of the Southern guys want to do the same, just let me know. https://all.accor.com/hotel/6617/index.en.shtml And then staying at the Fort Dunlop Travelodge on the way home, with a quick trip in to t...

Re: The Southern Softies group meet ups

Wessons at Horam closed a while back.

Close to there is the Butchers Hook cafe. That's worth a visit.

Re: The Southern Monk group meet ups

Yes, I'd be keen on meeting up. We've had a few 'Southern Softies' meetings before.

I'm close to Gatwick.

Re: 2011 Camhead - clunky gear changes

My 2012 CLUNKS when I change gear.

I came from a slick Honda CBF600, which glided into gear by comparison. You learn to get used to it, but I was told by the dealer and my independent mechanic "They all do that".

Which nice because what I'm looking for is someone to pay my gas and electricity bill over the winter.

Re: Wheel Balancing Limits

60g on the front, and none on the rear on my RT.

I'm sure I was told on another bike that balancing the rear, isn't as important as the front.

Re: Annual meet 2023 Discussion Thread

With lots of help from Bob21 and lots of YouTube tutorials, I finally got my head around Basecamp.

Then I ‘saw the light’ and converted to Tourstart. Best Eur 19 I’ve spent this year.

Re: Security whilst touring.

I never lock mine up. If I'm leaving it all night, I'll sometimes put the steering lock on, but that's it.

If someone is determined enough, they'll steal it irrespective of what security I put on it. That's why it's insured.

That's good to know. I've worried about the potential fuel strip on my 2012. I didn't realise it doesn't have one!

Further along that same road, we also stopped here for afternoon tea. The cafe and facilities were superb. https://philiphaughestate.com/the-waterwheel-cafe/ Please don't think that I'm trying to interfere with your plans MikeS. It wouldn't mind at all if you ignored all of my ramblings. Looking for...

Re: Dumfries 2023 Annual RT Meet 14th to 16th July 2023

Thanks for organising MikeS. Tim and I rode around the area last year. There are some superb roads up there for sure. One that sticks in my mind is the A708, that runs alongside The Loch of The Lowes. We stopped at the Glen Cafe, which is right on the side of the Loch. I think it may be too far off ...
