Re: Hi from GB
Mine did and they're not all they're cracked up to be when paired to certain engine types. You have to remember quick shifters were developed for the track, to work at revs and to compliment a close ration gearbox. What we've got is a big twin, spread out gears and as 'Jeffem' said "it’s a big ...

Re: Time for New Brake Pads
As above, been told my rear pads are low.... 12k miles, is that about normal? That's almost exactly what I got out of the OEM rear set on my '18 R1250RT. My mechanic said you'll generally get 2x Rears to 1x pair of fronts. At just over 22,000 miles I'm still on the OEM front and the replacement rea...

Re: Heated Items
We as warm blooded animals can only produce so much heat and insulation can only trap so much of it. Helmets do a reasonable job at protecting the brain from the cold, but for the rest we have to protect the body at about +36c from a winters day air temperature of let's say +5c, all in the space abo...

Re: Heated Items
I don't think heated motorbike boots exist, but heated socks and insoles do. I use the latter and they're brilliant.
Vest, grips & insoles usually does it for me but I also have heated trousers. In a naked bike they are useful, on an RT they're really only necessary on the coldest of days.

Guys, if this thread descends into trading insults and a personal squabble I'm just going ask for it to be deleted.

Re: Keis Heated Kit with 3rd Party Controller
Only part of it. I know it can be made to fit, but what I don't know is if the controller will actually erm, control the Keis stuff. It's no use if the controller works but doesn't deliver enough volts to heat properly or worse fry. That's why I was asking if anyone has actually done it.

Re: Keis Heated Kit with 3rd Party Controller
Both makes offer a dual control option, i.e. two turn knobs with 2x output wires. As long as I can connect the vest to output A and the trousers/insoles to B then I'll have separate temperature adjusters.

Keis Heated Kit with 3rd Party Controller
Hi All, I have a Keis Vest, Pants & Insoles which I like and do what I want as heated kit. What I don't like are the Keis controllers, AND because of the way Keis kit connects I have to have two of them! One for the vest and one for the pants (which also controls the insoles and I'm fine with th...

Re: Mirrior vibration
Similar issue with my '18 R1250RT. It's a good enough rear view, but I wouldn't call it great. In practice we're riding a bloody great big twin, piston doing opposite things. I'm sure BMW engineers did their best, but they ain't miracle workers. Would I like a clearer rear view, yes. Does it still d...

Re: Oxford Oximiser 3X
From this thread and poll, the Optimate 4 Can Bus edition is most popular, https://www.1200rt.com/viewtopic.php?t=6035&hilit=battery+chargers Thanks for that link and that's pretty much ties in with what I've read up about over the last couple of days. Optimates seem to have a good name. Cheers...

Oxford Oximiser 3X
Hi All, After 3yrs of irregular use* my Oxford Oximiser 3X Battery Charger appears to have developed a fault. When I connect it to a battery it almost immediately lights up to show 17.8v, then just sits there displaying 'Standby'. I've tried this with the battery on the bike and a spare LifePod4 Lit...

Re: Heated Seat
This is an interesting article about how someone fixed their broken heated seat, but in relation to the above, the important bit is that it shows the construction and describes the heating element a being only below one layer of foam. The poster doesn't say how thick that foam was, but looking at th...

Re: What did you do today?
Yeah… oh what fun. I followed the gritter as I made my way home this afternoon. Ho-hum, it is winter I suppose. I can't remember which TV show it was on, Mock of the Week, Have I got News for You or something similar, but the comedian said in wonderful Welsh accent. "You can tell which i...
