Re: SHORTER SCREEN. 2014 onwards

Plenty of owners buying the new RT's with the "sport" screen taking them off. Should be found for sale I would think. I tested a couple prototype shorter screens thinking they would have a market. Just like the Cee Bailey sport screens, they are not worth the time to install them. Just rid...

Re: Muffler noise (more) withoput changing to Remus etc

The stock muffler is to quite for my taste. The louder the better for me. Thinking about adapting this. Do not want to mess with the flap valve (removal). Just want more noise. Motorcycles are supposed to be fast, mean and LOUD! Interesting statement! Looking at your signature, I see the two loudes...

Re: Muffler noise (more) withoput changing to Remus etc

Before modifying your exhaust, it might be a good idea to hear some others that have been modified. Either stock or aftermarket. Then decide if that is a sound you like.......

Re: Tank lock tank bag

I have a Givi that I swap between my two bikes. I will never have a tank bag that is not a ring lock again. Don't be tempted to get one too large. Those tend to get in the way when turning bars lock to lock. They are hard to carry into a restaurant if you keep your wallet, phone, maps, etc in them. ...

Re: Calsci screens post 2014

Import Tax/Duties really make it hard to do business across the Pond! Shipping to the UK is higher than other destinations also. I tried other aftermarket brands, and not finding what I wanted, designed my own. Yes, I have a company in California actually build them for me. That partnership works we...

Re: Fuel Tank capacity and range...

My longest range is 335 miles on one tank. That was riding the Blue Ridge Parkway where speeds are lower.

My shortest range was right at 170 miles! Fuel light came on at 163 miles. Running 90mph (gps ) into a head wind in West Texas......

Re: Russell seat advice needed

I have had Russell seats with and without the backrest. Yes, they are removable and they flip forward to help mounting. But still a PITA every time you get on or off. My main dislike of them is that on long rides they tend to make my back sore from rubbing. Not a cheap experiment!

Best money I have spent on my '14 RT! Especially coming from an '04 RT and servicing that brake system, doing the '14 with the speed bleeders seems.....almost too easy!

Re: Removing adhesive residue from windscreen

standard nail varnish removal fluid. perfect. Don't ever get nail polish remover near a plastic windshield! WD 40 can work, as the OP found. Just limit the amount of time it is on the screen. Wash with soap to completely remove it. An eraser on a pencil, or for erasing pencil marks, can be a very g...

Re: Gerbing or similar heated clothing

If you owned both a heated vest and a heated jacket, the vest would never get used after trying them both. Your arms get a good bit of air on them, even on an RT, and keeping them warm is worth the few dollars for the jacket over vest. Keeping your core warm is good, but I would not say it eliminate...

Re: "Distance in a Day"

My 1000 mile day isn't that much to some riders! The route you take and the conditions you travel in all come into play. But the most important thing is getting everything you sit on, grab onto, wear to work with you rather than against you. That takes several trips to iron out and get right.

Re: New here from Kentucky, USA

Welcome! I don't think the RT is a Gold Wing, but certainly a Gold Wing isn't an RT. Meaning they do things differently. Hard to beat the Wing on the interstates, but everywhere else the RT is going to be quite a refreshing change. You will learn to really enjoy what the RT offers. You may miss a co...

Re: New BMW Owner - Concord, NC

You'll grow used to the difference in seat height. These bikes feel a LOT different from a cruiser with their low seat height! That might make them seem top heavy, but this bike is lighter than most cruisers by quite a lot. Again, it takes some time to grow comfortable with it. [size=2px]There is a ...

Re: Windshield riding speed

If you are running an RT windshield over 2/3rds of the way up most of the time, it is probably not tall enough to work as well as it could. While the linkage geometry on the RT helps some, the windshield still becomes more vertical the further up it raises. This doesn't mean it won't work, but on so...
